I was a Deputy from 2006 to 2008 with Jeff Davis County Sheriffs Office, in Texas. Prior to this I was a Police Officer with the 4th largest Department in the US, Houston PD. I have a great appreciation for those who work in rural areas. As I have found during my time, that these small agencies, have just as much responsibility as the larger ones. But they do their jobs for way less money, little to no resources, old and outdated equipment and poor working conditions. Yet they put their lives on the line to protect the citizens of the community. I have met some of the Sproul family during my time in Jeff Davis County. They are good people. I am Honored to know that I have worked for a rural agency with brave men before me, like Sheriff Franklin Lee Sproul. God Bless!

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 79th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Rest In Peace.
