On today, the 160th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Tarrant County. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Sheriff York's son Oliver Lee York carried on the family tradition and served two terms as sheriff of Palo Pinto County, but was fortunate to live into his eighties and die at home. Our family is proud of, and grateful for, their contributions--and sacrifices--for our state.

The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office is now mowing the Mitchell Cemetery where Sheriff York is buried. The cemetery will be restored and a marker will be placed to honor Sheriff York's sacrifice. I am a distant realitive of Seaborne Gilmore, York's father-in-law. R.L. Hauk 5/9/2010

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 148th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was murdered on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
