Octavio Monico Puig was my grandfather's half brother. He in the prime of his life when he lost his life serving the community of Brownsville. It is too bad that members of the Law Enforcement community were involved in his death.
The feud between the Camaron County Sheriff's department and the Brownsville Police Department was shameful, but brutal politics were the order of the day back in 1913.
Lt. Octavio Monico's death devastated his mother, Uranie Sheldelier Puig. She died two years later in San Diego, Texas.
The Puig Family has learned of Octavio's death from the research by Ruben Garcia. We are truly in his debt.
