Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Private Burrell Milo Baucom

Trooper Baucom,

I drive I5, or what you would have called Hwy 99, past your memorial every month to my National Guard drill. You were a guardsman during WWI, and when I pass the site of your murder, I pause to reflect on a career of selfless sacrifice to others. From France to Oregon, you made others’ safety your priority. Rest in peace brother. We will maintain the watch for you.

I was wondering if the bullet retrieved matched a specific revolver to a .38? What was the persons involvement that was apprehended and allegedly arrested for the murder of the trooper? Now we that we know there are odd underground tunnels I’m curious about the case link. My interests is simple, my mentor is a trooper so it’s personal.

Private Milo Baucom

I am your Great Great Nephew, as you are my Grandmothers Uncle. I have been a Police Officer in the Air Force for 21 years and now a Civilian Police Officer for James City County Police going on 13 years.

I will be riding this year in the Law Enforcement United Road to Hope, in your Memory.

I am honored to ride in your name as you have served and honored the profession with your heroism. I pray you ride along beside me as we complete the 252 mile ride bicycle ride to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice, and to honor their family members left behind.

Your watch may have ended, but your blood will continue to serve through me. I pray God blesses over all of us Sheep Dogs through the history of time.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.
GOD Bless

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 77th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

Pvt. Baucom,
On today, the 74th anniversary of your murder, I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of Oregon. I think that the sentence that your murderer received was travesty of justice.

This act of violence may have occurred over 70 years ago but I still think about it. I am only 24 years old but I drive by the location where Private Baucom was killed nearly every day and I always think about how life was when the shooting happened. Back then the area was completely rural, now the area is full of houses with North Valley High School just down the road. The shooting occurred on Highway 99 back in 1933, the highway is now called Monument Drive in memory of Private Baucom and The memorial for Private Baucom is now at the North Bound Manzanta Rest area on the I-5 freeway, about a mile from the incident location. I guess I just want to say that I will never forget.

Burrell you are not forgotten and the injustice done to you and your loved ones by the "system" will be remembered. Other survivors will try and teach the "system" what is fair and just. Rest in peace and thank you for the service you provided to the citizens of Oregon.

You did not die in vain - you are a hero to so very many of us. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice, and please continue to welcome the many more heroes who continue to join you. I take comfort in knowing that so many dedicated officers are watching us from above.

Rest in peace. Your killer will see justice, one way or another.

So sad that your killer only served such a short time after you served your life! Thank you for serving America and all you and your family sacrificed.

Why is "life" never life,

Sir,

Your life is worth much more than the 13 years your killer recieved. I cry when I think about these stupid sentences killers get.

I want to Thank you for giving
