It's now been 140 years. Your agency is now part of a much larger one and although the Brooklyn Police is just a part of history, you are a monument to it's existence, though a sad one at that. You're sacrifice is honored here.

God Bless and may your eternal rest be ever peaceful.

and what the hell was that e-mail all about? Well Ms. Edwards, I wish you well also. God Bless you in your quest for justice, no matter how misguided that quest became.

Hello, Mr. Scott Mielke,

After reading your bio, I had a feeling that I could trust you with my family problem. My cousin, Margaret Evette needed a financial boost. Retrospectively, she barrowed from me. Now, that she does not have the resources to pay back at this time, Evette has become aggressive to me.

What I would like to do is to send any of her phone calls through the Police Station. She is a very wonderful person with urgent hassles. Her number is 347-623-6035(cell). She, Evette is now learning to live without a mother and father. I will have to wait until she accepts my guidance and responsibility plan in adulthood.

Evette is doing good working for the New York Police. I will send to you the personnel note that I have sent to her. I will need time in order for her to refrain for blaming me for financial problems. I am scared that I may not succeed.

Thank You for your help

Margaret O. Bluford-Edwards, R.N.
I am sending tonight's e-mail to Patrolman Scott.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.
GOD Bless

This message is for Det. George Cats. I found the answer to your question regarding surnames while doing research today. Captain Leich and his officers arrested James McQuaid and George W. Sanders and took them to the fourth precinct. NY Times, July 7, 1876. NYPL Microfilm article titled "LOCAL MISCELLANY. A POLICEMAN MURDERED. A VICTIM OF BROOKLYN ROWDIES- STRUCK DOWN IN THE DISCHARGE OF HIS DUTY BY A GANG OF RUFFIANS".

I was born in August 1941 and raised on Steuben St. between Myrtle and Park Avenues and departed that area in June 1971. I served in NYPD from Oct. 1968 and retired in Nov. 1993. Can anyone furnish the surnames of any of the perpetrators of the murder of Police Officer Edward Scott? My partner and I were very instrumental in arresting many people that committed felonies in that neighborhood. I wonder if any of them were related to the murderers.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 136th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
