Al, you are dearly missed each and every day...It's surreal how it has been 6 years now, yet it still rings as though it happened yesterday. Your family is always in our thoughts and prayers. You are not forgotten, too many memories...The strength and presence you carried are deeply missed, your proffessional standards are sorely missed, we know you continue to watch over your family, please help guide the department into the right direction, so many are still hurting and continue to be hurt, wish you were still here among us~You are missed, but never forgotten.
God Bless you and your family!

Major McGregor,
My father was on the force with you for many years and he always spoke so highly of you. I pray very often for you and your family. Even though I didn't really know you and your family (although I'm sure that I had met several times at the christmas parties) it feels like the EPPD family is all connected. I pray that you watch over my father and all your fellow officers; and please know that you will not soon be forgotten.
God Bless.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Your honor made us proud to know you. Your knowledge made us strive to be better. Your fraternity gave us spirit. Your absence has brought us profound loss. However, the pride, the determination, and the spirit you instilled in us, along with our enduring memories, keep you, Major, in our hearts forever. God bless and keep you.

Al;
Tomorrow is 6 years since you left us. You are deeply missed. Tommy is stepping down after bringing things back; and Barry is taking over. You would be proud. Lots of new faces (too many that I can think of right now). The fight continues. I pray for Brooke and your kids. Your family is in our prayers each and every day. Keep watching over us... Al,
You are missed each and every day, I cannot believe how long it has been, it seem just yesterday, especially as the time creeps closer and closer to when we lost you. My only hope is that you are still around (in spirit) to help guide those who need it...and there are plenty here that need your help. To continue to help the boots to never forget, and to remind the veterans of the department to remember the values, morals, and standards you have set. Now, is a time when we all need your guidance...Wish you were still here among us...
God bless your soul, and among all God Bless your family, and God Bless this department!

Al, On June 29th Ian, your oldest son, or (GUS as we like to call him) graduated from the RI municipal police academy, all 5 of your boys were at the ceremony. I KNOW you were watching and PROUD....Many of us from East Providence were in attendance, I have not been proud of being a police officer for some time especially since your death, THAT DAY I WAS PROUD TO BE A POLICE OFFICER. Recently I have transfered to New Haven Police Department after 9 years with East Providence so I could be with my family...THANK YOU...I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU OR THE BOYS...
