It's been three years and I still get emotional thinking about what happened and when I visit this site. You are truly missed. I feel lucky to have known you, served with you, and learned from you for those short eleven years. This is one anniversary I don't look forward to every year; but, I will NEVER forget it or you!

A fine officer, a trusted friend, a true gentleman. Yet, in less than a blink of the eye, he was gone. His passing, just as his living, has left an indelible mark on not only his fellow officers, but their family's and those family's left behind. He has truly crossed from this life with honor and blazing with glory.
Slainte to you, Al, you've earned the right to share your "starry crown" with the very best, forever.

One of your favorite people are getting married in just a few days, something that you had always wished for him. I wish you were here to support them in there life together something I know you would have enjoyed doing more than anything. You were very much peers but I know how much you enjoyed sharing your knowledge and experiences with those you loved. I know you will be watching over him.

You will be remembered and honored always by those who knew you, and those who wish they could have.

...Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free, silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands, with all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves, let me forget about today until tomorrow...

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).
Unfortunately, I had to add the name of another friend. Deputy Jeffrey Hewitt, Buncombe County (NC) Sheriff’s Department, E.O.W. April 4, 2004.

We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.

These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

...Gone, but never Forgotten....

You were more than a colleague or a friend. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you Al – a landmark, the good old days,
or all the talks we had.

Such as life… We grow apart and take each other for granted
because we think nothing will ever happen to us. I never said it, but I always admired you and I’m a far better person for having known you. I only wish you were still around because there is an awful void with you gone.

It's been two years now. It is so hard to believe that you have been gone for exactly two years. So brother here is a prayer for you.

The Policeman's Prayer

Oh Almighty God,
Whose Great Power And Eternal
Wisdom Embraces The Universe,
Watch Over All Policemen and
Law Enforcement Officers.
Protect Them From Harm
In The Performance Of Their Duty
To Stop Crime, Robberies,
Riots And Violence.
We Pray, Help Them Keep
Our Streets And Homes Safe
Day And Night.
We Recommend Them To
Your Loving Care
Because Their Duty Is Dangerous.
Grant Them Your Unending Strength And
Courage In Their Daily Assignments.
Dear God, Protect These
Brave Men & Women,
Grant Them Your Almighty
Protection,
Unite Them Safely With Their
Families After Duty Has Ended.
Amen.

Dear Al,

So much has happened since you left us. I know if you were here things would be so different. You stood for what was fair and good. I think that others think of you I just wish I knew what they thought. Maybe that would help, if everyone shared how they remembered you. We miss you dearly.
You are a hero because of how you lived not how you died.

Royalty is your race.
I love you my friend.
