To the family and friends of Officer Jose Perez-Hernandez, and to his fellow officers with the Puerto Rico Police Department:

On this the fifth year anniversary of his untimely death, I extend our family's sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you sustained when Jose was tragically murdered in the line of duty on February 21, 2001. His valor and dedication will not be forgotten and we salute his courage. He is a true hero.

May you continue to be supported and comforted by your military law enforcement family, and other police survivors who share this painful journey with you.

Most especially to Officer Jose Perez-Hernandez : We honor your memory today. You were and will always remain a hero whose memory is revered. Rest in Peace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the the distinquished service Jose gave to his community and the citizens of Puerto Rico, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on February 21, 2001.

Aun no he podido olvidar ese horrible dia. Perez ha sido mi motivacion donde quera que estoy. Creo que dos noches antes del incidente patrullamos juntos en el sector 110 del Viejo San Juan. recuerdo la frase que teniamos "ay bendito". Tu companero que nunca te olvida, Fernandez (27385).

I was in the "Presinto 166" the night of the horrible incident, it was so sad, I still in shock. Perez was a great Police Officer and great person. I will never foget him.
