KJ, You will NEVER be forgotten. Everyday I walk down the hall at the NW station I see your picture. It saddens me.
It also reminds me of the great memories of working with you in patrol/ICP.
It brings back all the memories of the time we spent off-duty, hunting, lake parties and father daughter ski trip. I will always remember you. God Bless

I just read a great, yet sad article about the brutal murder of Officer James in the Dallas Morning News. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, co-workers and friends. I salute you, Sir, for your bravery, duty and ultimate sacrifice. You will FOREVER be a hero and will NEVER be forgotten!

I have followed this case from the beginning and the senselessness of this heinous crime haunts me. The guy that did this deserves the punishment he has been sentenced to. It is his choice if he wants to ask god for forgiveness.

It's football season again, Kevin! We will head to Dallas for the U.T. vs. O.U. weekend where you always joined us in rooting for the 'Horns! There is not a day that goes by that we don't think about you. Can't wait to see you again. It's going to be a GREAT reunion. You always were and continue to be our inspiration. Aunt Susie

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 8th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I never spoke with Officer James but his life affected me. I am the Careflite Registered Nurse who, with my crew, flew him to Parkland that tragic evening. It is gratifying to see the fondness and love with which he is still remembered. I vividly remember the events of that night and the loss of a fine man and officer.

KJ,
It seems like it yesterday that we sat around off duty at the pool. I can't believe it's been seven years. I know you still watch over us at the NW Division. We miss you friend.

Daddy.
I thought I was strong, but all my fragile strength is gone.
I miss you, more than anything.
Dad, the memories are fading.
The hat you wore, the one that laid on your head as you
were dying, its not as comforting as your arms around me.
that sweatshirt you gave me daddy, the one i used to hold
when i missed you, the one that i pressed hard against my face to
try to get the scent of you off. daddy, it just doesnt work anymore.
I know this sounds weird dad, but every time i look at the stars,
I see you.
Everytime i look at the clouds, I know your with me.
I can almost feel your arms around me,
but it's not good enough.
I know this sounds silly dad,
but i'm still waiting, waiting for you to come home.
It's never gonna happen, but i can hope, right?
or did the hope die, along with my strength to carry on?
I love you
Shelby James.

I was very fortunate and blessed to meet some of your family this past May during the 2008 Fallen Police Officer Memorial. Although I have never had an opportunity to meet you, I feel like I know you from the stories your family has told me about you. :) I can tell that you are a very special person and have touched the hearts of many people!!
I keep your friends and family in my thoughts and prayers as your 7th year anniversary is around the corner. You always hear that time heals all wounds...I can't say that it actually does, but I can say that you learn to move forward and you never forget.
Thank you again Officer Kevin James for serving and protecting. Because of you the streets of Dallas are safer. You may not be with us in person, but I know that you are watching over everyone. We may have lost an angel here on earth but heaven definitely gained one!!!
God Bless!!!

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
