Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Billy Ray Walls, III

To my nephew......
Billy I miss you already. Your courage, dedication and devotion I will always remember. You died doing something you truly loved to do. The hurt that the family feels may slowly go away, but the pride we all have for knowing you will never wane. Thank you for being in my life Billy and I promise to help look after the ones you have left behind.

We love and miss you,
The Walls Faily

Doug Walls

The tragedy of this deputy's death screams at all of us so loudly that the sounds of our anguish cannot be heard.
Just when we began to believe that all of our society's real enemies were the foreign terrorists, a man among men and his brothers were ambushed by a person committing an insane act. The very best each of us can do is to pray for Billy Ray Walls' soul and for his wounded brothers, and for the families of each of these brave men, and try to live the very best life we can as Deputy Walls was denied his chance at life. May the Good Lord have mercy on your soul.

to the officers and staff of Jessamine County Sheriff's department, the ceremony today was truly moving and inspiring, and if the the officers in red were the RCMP, I am equally awestruck by your brotherhood, and am somewhat jealous, I admire your work, I admire all peace officers, their jobs and dedication, I thank you for you dedication and hope you ALL never have to witness another incident as this.Consequently my prayers are for Chuck and a full recovery as for Sammy. I will greatly miss my friend Billy and hope that maybe in some way I can become as dedicated to something and somebodies as you all are.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
THANK YOU ALL.
REST NOW MY FRIEND.

Thank you very much for keeping Jessamine County safe for me and everyone that lives there. Each time I return home to see my family I will have you on my mind knowing you made the ultimate sacrifice for the great town that they live in. Billy,
In the time we worked together we went through a lot, but you always had that up beat personality to keep all of us going. There never was a day that I came to work and you were not making the guys and me laugh. The hard work ethic that you had makes it not fair that god could take you away from your family and friends so soon. Your professionalism and friendship will never be forgotten. Priscilla and Kaley, we love your husband and dad very much. My career is dedicated to Billy and hope that one day to be the caliber of deputy that he was. Rest in peace.

To the family of Billy Walls-I remember Billy Walls from Bryan Station High School. He sat right behind me in U.S. History class in 1991. We used to talk about ROTC, the Military Ball and our faith in God. He was such a nice fellow. I was one of the youngest students in the class and he always helped me on my homework. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and daughter. I cannot imagine the pain his family must be feeling. May the Lord watch over and protect his family during such a painful time. I will never forget that young yellow in his blue ROTC uniform and his beautiful eyes. May his light continue to shine through his daughter's eyes. My husband was former Chief of Police in Miamisburg, Ohio and our son is now a police officer with the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government. I have kept this poem written by Harry Koch, it says it all.

Somebody killed a policeman today,
And a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend alone many long nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
It happened in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now, his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call and gave us his all,
And part of America died.

With our sincerest sympathies.

I will always remember how I admired Billy for his passion for Law Enforcement. At times, he was misunderstood for such enthusiasm by others. I feel that God blessed him with a gift to become a Law Enforcement Officer. He leaves us having fulfilled his calling. It takes a special person to perform an officer's duties and Billy had what it took. We lost touch over the years, but I will always remember Billy Walls as a kind and generous person. May God bless his wife and little girl.

Billy,
May you walk in peace with the Lord from this day forward. We will selfishly miss you and your big smile but will never forget you. Prissy and Kaley are in good hands. We promise to take good care of them. Thank you for your courage and heroism. We will keep you in our hearts always.

I saw Deputy Walls at the gym each morning as he diligently worked out. I saw him as he put on his vest and uniform with pride. I was never fortunate enough to get to meet or get to know him, but as a former LEO I am diminished at the loss of a brother and the "Thin Blue Line" is thinner.

I trust that Deputy Walls is patrolling the golden streets of heaven ... walking hand-in-hand with the Lord. God Bless you, Brother, and I look forward to meeting you there some day.

Deputy Billy Walls gave his all for his family, his job and his community. He paid the ultimate price.

To Mrs. Walls and Baby Kaley Alexis:
You can be proud of who Billy is - he lives on in your hearts forever. The Lord promises to be the husband to the husbandless and the father to the fatherless.

To the Law Enforcement Family, the Church, the Community:
We are implored by the Lord to care for the widows and orphans. May we NEVER forget the families of those who give their all in the line of duty.

Thank you Billy for your unrelenting passion to protect the citizens of this country. I respect you a great deal for your bravery. God bless you.

I just want to offer my sympathies to Deputy Walls family. My daughter was in a traffic accident this summer and he was so good and kind to her. He was a great representation of the Jessamine Counties Sherriffs Office. My deepest regrets to the family and the deputies all across the country.

Billy was the reason I switched over to the Fayette County Sheriff's Department after I graduated Basic Training class 255 with him. I rode several times with him when we would pair up at 2200 hrs. for warrant service. Billy was always a "go-getter" and very professional in his work. We would eat together when we could, make jokes, and so-forth. The best one was when we were outside of Denny's restaraunt waiting on some of the other guys and the subject of a bunch of banannas came up. I won't go into detail but I'm sure he would remember it. When he left the Fayette County Sheriff's Department so did I. Billy went to the Jessamine County Sheriff's Department and I went to the Madison County Sheriff's Department. Billy was the officer I looked up to most even though I am four years older than he. I will still be making trips to the Madison/Jessamine line as I used to hoping to by some chance to throw a friendly wave across the river to him. I will miss you pal, God Bless.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and department of Deputy Walls. God only picks the finest. A part of Deputy Walls will always and forever be watching over all of us on our beat. Keep his memories close to your heart.

Billy,
You will be sorely missed by everyone, family, friends, and people that only met you once. You were that type of person, one that anyone you came in contact with felt a closeness to you. I was lucky enough to be friends with you and Priscilla, and I can not express how thankful I am that I knew you. Priscilla and Kaley love you with all their hearts, and Kaley will know the hero her dad was and is. May god bless you and walk with you forever.

MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE FAMILY OF DEPUTY WALLS. IT IS SOMETIMES HARD FOR US TO UNDERSTAND WHY GOD TAKES THOSE HE DOES, BUT WE HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT THERE IS A REASON. I TRULY BELIEVE THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HEAVEN FOR POLICE OFFICERS WHO GIVE THEIR LIVES IN THE SERVICE OF OF THEIR COMMUNITY AND I PRAY THAT HIS FAMILY CAN TAKE SOLACE FROM THE FACT THAT NOW HE IS WATCHING OVER THEM FROM HEAVEN.
