Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Billy Ray Walls, III

Brother it's been 15 years today and yes it still feels like yesterday. I think about you almost every day, and make sure that every Dispatch class at DOCJT hears your story. Miss the days of sitting at Asbury drinking coffee and sharing stories.

I can't tell you how long it has been since I last visited this site. However I can honestly say that not many days go by that I dont think of you. I think of the short time he had with us and the huge impact you made while here. You left a wonderful legacy that will last a long time. To Carolyn, Prissy and Kaley I hope that the passing of time has allowed your hearts to heal. Love you and miss you Billy.

Highest respect,
Uncle Doug

I miss you Bill. Not a day goes by when I don't see your smile. What I wouldn't give to pick up the phone and hear your voice on the other end. How many times have I wished I could've used some advice for life's challenges. How I regret not spending more time with you when I had the chance. Bill taught me what loyalty really meant. Bill was my best friend growing up and the best friend I ever had or will ever had. Too early pal. Way too early.

I have a picture in my office of Auxier Ridge in the Red River Gorge. How many time had we crossed through that area??? Best times of my life. Everyday I can see your smile and it gives me strength. When confronted with a challenging decision I ask myself what would Bill have done??? His character was above reproach and his love filled all of us with joy.

Miss you brother. See you someday in heaven brother.

Hi, Billy ~

Twelve years today. Seemingly impossible. Sometimes that day seems a lifetime ago, but more often it seems just a blink. Life gets sadder and sadder here, but it's comforting to know that all is well and wonderful for you and so many others we have loved and lost in these 12 years.

We remember every detail, Billy; it will never leave us. Have a glorious Thanksgiving! We miss you. Our love,

Susan & Louis Prater

762,
It is so hard to believe you have been gone from this earth 12 years. It seems like yesterday we were answering calls and having fun together. I think about you nearly everyday. Your legacy continues to grow. Take care buddy. Love 775

It's hard to believe that it will be 12 years tomorrow. There isn't a day goes by that I don't think about you and Chuck. You both were fine officers that left us too soon.

Hi, Billy ~

May 4th would have been your 40th birthday . . . . how impossible is that??!? Yet you'll always be 28 to all of us who continue to remember because we're unable to forget. Hope your birthday party was magnificent! Miss you.

Our love,

Susan & Louis

Hi, Billy ~

It's Christmastime again, but things don't feel very "merry." I have to wonder if Heaven was a very sad place on Friday, December 14th. The events of that day in Newtown, CT, have rocked all of us to our cores and, once again, made us all feel that we've lost our equilibrium. It's a frightening and heartbreaking place we live.

You're always in our thoughts, Billy, and we know your Christmas will be glorious beyond anything we can imagine. Please tell Daddy how much I miss him; the pain of his absence is relentless. Rest peacefully, Friend, and enjoy the Heavenly celebration!

Our love,

Susan and Louis Prater

Hi, Billy ~

November 13, 2001, was a bright, sunny day, just like this one 11 years later. I'll never forget, as long as I live, the horror and the heartbreak of that day; it's never far from my consciousness. But time does march on, whether we like it or not, and we continue to tumble and stumble our way through each day. We think and speak of you so often, and you are greatly missed. We'll never forget, Billy. Rest peacefully in God's mighty arms.

Our love,

Susan and Louis Prater
