Amanda and Sam:
You will always be in my prayers and I will always think about you. Jerry was a great man, and I know he loved you both very much. Jerry was a great friend. I know he loved being a police officer and I can still see his face "light up" when I asked if he enjoyed police work. It is thru his guidence and experiences that made me want to become a police officer. I enjoyed riding along with him whenever I got the chance. He taught me alot about police work. I know you will get thru this because he is looking down at his family and watching out for both of you. Sam, your father was a hero and a great man....He loved you very much!!!If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask.....GOD BLESS YOU!

To the Family, Friends and Fellow Officers of Officer Wyss,
I want to tell you all how sorry we are for your loss. We know some of the pain you are going through and want to encourage you. The days that are a head of you will be both hard yet so amazing. To see the out pouring of support from fellow officers, your community and total strangers is so overwhelming. You will gain strength and wisdom beyond what you could ever imagine through this, Jerrold will be very proud of you. To Jerrolds wife and family, our prayer is that you will be well and that you let others help you regain your life. Your new family of survivors will always be here for you. Thank you for your sacrifice, we know how hard sharing your loved one with the world can be, you are heros as well. To the fellow officers, God Bless you each and every day as you serve and protect, and especially in these next days as you honor your friend. Be safe, be strong and be sure that there are people out here who do know how important you are!

To the family of Jerry Wyss,
I have walked in your shoes and I am sorry that you are doing the same now. There is going to be lots of support for you to get through this tough time. I met Jerry only briefly about 3 years ago and he was a rookie. I loved to hear his excitement as he went out to get "bad guys". Amanda, you are such a sweetheart and I will be here for you. After talking to you yesterday I am sure you will make Jerry proud while taking this journey of grief you are now on. Thank goodness for Sam, and what a cute little guy, he will be a great source of strength for you and your family. Hang in there my "sister" we are now in this together.
Love to you and your family,
Susan Matteson
