A warm smile and a friendly greeting will be forever etched in my memory. gone is a guy who spent his entire career fighting the system to make things right for all of the department. And not once didn't he back down, not even from the most unpopular controversies. He stood tall and will be rembered by me that way!

Bev,
Words cannot explain how I am feeling. I remember that night like it was yesterday. Before you were taken away from us (about an hour prior), I found a yearbook picture of you and I was looking for you to show it to you. You always joked with me about my haircut and I did about yours, even though we both had bald heads. You were and still are a great person in my eyes and heart. I know that you will watch over us all and help us make the right decisions on these cruel and dangerous streets. You are in a far better place than we are in now and may your soul rest in peace. Dear Heavenly Father in heaven, I ask that you lay your healing hand upon the Beverly family and help them through this difficult time. Help them find the peace that they are looking for through you Lord, Cause only you can give the answers that their hearts desire, because through you there is no wrong, only you can give that spiritual justice that we all desire. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

To all brothers who lost a friend and loved one,
Cpl. Beverly was an excellent leader to his platoon, he was also a fair and understanding supervisor. There were times when you may not have liked what he did or said, but he was always looking out for you, he had his end of roll call slogan of going out there and doing something even if it was wrong. But he always wanted you to do it safely. I guess this is why I don't understand what happened, but I guess him and the man upstairs had their reasons, and I guess I'll find out some day when we join him in the heavens up above. But, beside his work he was a nice guy to be around outside of the job, and I will miss that part the most, especially going to his house to lend him a hand.
He will be sorely missed by me and all that have served with him, and his family and friends.
We miss you Mike, God Bless!

Cpl. Beverly was my supervisor on C-Platoon (1600-2400 Shift). Cpl. Beverly was a great leader and stressed safety on a daily basis in roll call. I will continue to use what was taught to me by Cpl. Beverly. "Bev, we worked well as a team and although it may be hard to carry on, we will continue to impress you in our fight on crime and to help make The City of Chester the type of place you strived so hard to try and make it". You will be missed.
Your friend,

Mike, you will be missed by many , and it is very hard to think that you're gone. Taken from us in your prime.
I feel an empty space in my soul now. We used to be close , but the difference in our jobs put space between us, but I always felt that friendship was there.
You have always made people smile, and made others feel good about themselves. Always looking out for the young guys. Like we felt when we were rookies.
Remember "go out there and do something , Even if its wrong".
We lived by those great words of Sgt. Platt. You kept them going after he retired.
Keep them going where you are now too.
You'll always be in our memory and our hearts Mike.
God Bless You Mike.
You are truly missed.

BLOOD UPON THE SHIELD
Confrontation in an alley. The Centurion does not yield.
But this time the good guy loses; there is blood upon the shield.
And the mournful sounds of bagpipes play out across the land,
drowned out by the sobs of a lonely young wife and a child too young to understand.
While the killer pleads his case in court,
the thin blue line is one man short.
And we're one step closer to society's fall;
another cops's name is engraved on the wall.
Another state funeral, with an army in blue,
and we know it could've been me and it could've been you.
We all look ahead to what the future has in store,
front line troopers in a country that's at war.
At war with itself and at war with its cops and we're out
there every day 'cause the battle never stops.
It's not the way it is on TV shows or like we learned in school;
no cool music in the background,
no playing by the "rules".
We're disillusioned warriors,
but for right we'll always strive.
We just pray that at the end of our stress-filled day
we'll get back home alive.
You stand out on the corner
ignoring the insults and the stares,
close to the point of believing that no one really cares,
when a six year-old boy walks over after watching
you for awhile, reaching out to shake your hand,
on his face a friendly smile. To him you are a hero,
a protector of our land,
and he wants
to learn about you,
as a cop and a man.
And when he asks you why your badge is covered
by a black elastic band,
tell him about our Brother--
A cop who made a stand.
