Lord, he was yours to give,
and yours to call home.
Please stand by his brothers,
so they're not all alone.
Dry the tears of his family,
so they clearly can see,
that he gave us his all,
so all could have peace.

Blessed are they,
the children of God,
with heavy hearts,
and honor they trod,
to pay their respects,
to give their salute,
and to ask for your mercy
on HEROES IN BLUE.
Amen.

Rest in peace Dominick,

Now let me ask you Dom, when we sat face to face in the squad leader barracks in December of 2000, and then walked side by side to the mess hall, and you were down and out, you told me that you didnt know if you should be here because you had this bad feeling and you thought you should go back to teaching, what did you mean by that? I know you cant answer this, but I always remember that conversation we had. When I saw the movie they made about you wil and john, I got sick to my stomach. Even though I knew the whole story before the movie came out. The thought of you laying in that hot firey mess of steel, trying desperately to save wil and john, before suffering and being mortally wounded by debris, hurts me more than you can imagine. I wish I was in there with you to help lift that shit off the guys. I would have helped you until my arms snapped in half. You were physically strong. I remember training with you at the gym and lifting heavy weights together. You didnt deserve this man. Never will I forget the things we spoke about and the times we shared. Ever! RIP.

To the wife, children and extended family of Officer Dominick Pezzulo I offer my most heartfelt condolences...

Your husband, father, son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, in-law, friend and fellow officer was a hero in the truest sense of the word. He showed courage and compassion for his fellow officers in his final moments...I know you are proud of how he lived his life.

For all those whose lives he touched...I hope you know how privileged you were to have had him in each of your lives...I hope you will honor his last words...remembering him to all those who will come after him, as they will be his legacy.

I pray that his family will feel his presence in their lives as he watches over them from a far better place.

May God's perpetual light shine upon the soul of Officer Dominick Pezzulo and may he rest in His eternal peace for having made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting and serving his fellow New Yorkers.

I will not forget you...With my deepest sympathy.

Dear Dominick:
The incredible sacrifice you made that horrible day, only bespeaks of what police officers are all about. The will to risk everything for another...in particular, a brother officer. "Man knows no greater love, than one who lays down his life for another."
If someone were to say, "give a description of what a hero is", I would respond, "Officer Dominick Pezzulo". I felt so compelled to write a reflection to you, sir. What you did that day, saving others at the cost of your own life, sends a clear message: "To serve and protect", is not just a catchy phrase. It is a creed that we as police officers, literally live and die by.
Although I have never had the honor to meet you, I am certain that someday I will have the pleasure. Rest in peace, my brother, you did your time in hell. You exalted yourself from one of New York's Finest, to one of America's Finest. May God help your children and your family find the resolve to carry on. Let them know that whatever the need they should have, it would be our great honor to assist them with it.
On behalf of our fellow officers, thank you for your actions, dedication, service, and sacrifice. The terrorists have greatly underestimated the steel that our police officers have, and the will we possess to protect our countrymen, and our homeland, from all acts of terror. God bless you, and God bless America. Amen

Thinking of you still, I have been sitting here tonight going through some 9-11 memorials. I don't know why I do that to myself. It brings me so much sadness, I was changed that day. I did not know anyone affected personally by 9-11 yet I know we all are. I can not even imagine the grief and devastation that your family and all others must be going through. I think of it every single day and at times I just sob. To your family, America greives with you, I am so so sorry for your loss. Dom, be comforted.
Forever,
Gina

To the family and loved ones of Officer Dominick Pezzulo and his fellow officers with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department and most especially to Dominick:

Mere words seem insignificant to honor your heroism and courage which will never be forgotten. On this the fifth anniversary week of the tragic devastation wreaked upon our nation, those brave men and women who lost their lives safeguarding others are remembered and revered.

May your spirit continue to soar and your memory continue to inspire.

You freed two officers then was killed by fallen debri. You gave your life to save fellow officers, and your valor and courage will live forever in officers who emulate your selflessness.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect and gratitude for the distinquished service Dominick gave to his community and country, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 11, 2001.
