This is my first time comenting on PO Driscoll's memorial page. I recently came across a trophy that I had been awarded at a 9/11 chairty football game in California. The award was named after Stephen Driscoll. Out of all the awards I have ever won in my life, that is the only one that I display. I do not believe that I ever got the chance to meet PO Driscoll. I have had the pleasure of working with many people that worked with Stephen. The stories of geneoristy, heroism, friendship and sincerity are never ending. A true loss to mankind.

I am not a member of the New York City Police Department nor am I a Police Officer but I,myeslf, am a Law Enforcement (Peace) Officer in the State of Georgia. I recently recieved a 10 year Honorable discharge from the United States Army where I had the opportunities to attend jump school and become a U.S. paratrooper. After serving with the 173rd Airborne Bde, I had the privilege to experience Unity, Discipline, and closeness of teamwork. After my discharge, I felt lost in a civilian world that I haven't seen in 10 years! About 10 months later I became a member of the Georgia Department of Corrections where I am now employed as an officer at Georgia State Prison (Hi-Max). As a Correctional Officer, I again am feeling the teamwork and closeness of my days in the Airborne Unit. I just wanted to let you know that though I never knew you personnally, I appreciate the job you have done as a PEACE officer, Peace Officer is a profession which could only be best described BY a Peace Officer. From the your homepage, I see that you were the kind of Peace Officer which had pride in your job by treating others the way you would have wished to be treated and for that you have my greatest respect. Well Done so Rest in Peace.
Sincerely,
M. Harper

Stevie Driscoll was one of the most genuine people I have ever had the privilege to work with or to have known in my life. I have said in his memory that there is not a single thing I could think of that would prove any fault with him. Stevie had the ability to laugh off just about anything from getting shot at to claiming himself to be the XO of the unit to the new members. He was a true diamond in the rough and a excellent cop, friend, partner and father. When I found out that he was one of the many lost in the trade center it came as no surprise to me, Stevie was always the first one thru the door no matter what the circumstance, that's one of the things that made him a great cop. Stevie didn't care if you were a millionaire or a bum he treated everyone with the same respect and always came back with a smile and a "yo bro what are ya gonna do?" Nothing seemed to bother him. When one of our guys (Kevin Gillespie) was shot and killed Stevie was the one who organized a benefit for his family and made certain that every cop in the city new about it. He always went above and beyond no matter what the situation, especially if it was for one of our own. At his memorial service his partner said that if everyone Stevie had ever helped came together there wouldn't be enough seats in Madison Square Garden to hold them all. A truer statement has never been said,
Always in my prayers bro,

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.

You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because God honors it.

You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.

Thank you for your service to America. Your efforts saved thousand that horrible day.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends. You will be in our hearts forever.

DEPUTY SERIFF CHAD RHYMAN
TULARE CO.SHERIFFS DEPT. CA.

It was late one Tuesday evening,
Before a mother could sit down,
To tell her only child about
The terror that hit downtown.

She looked into the eyes of her son
God, she loved him so,
She felt her heart begin to break
And the hurt begin to show.

She gathered all her strength and courage,
as her story she began to tell.
"Baby don't cry, but I'm afraid daddy
Might be under a building that fell."

The boy looked back at his mother,
His eyes made not one blink.
And the mother's tears began to fall.
What would her baby think?

You see, his dad is a Policeman,
And his hero from the day of his birth.
He loved his dad more than anything else
That could ever inherit this earth.

The mother's head began to drop,
Her forehead resting on palm.
She thought her son would be upset.
Instead, he was very calm.

The boy leaned over towards his mom,
And put his hand upon her head.
In her ear he began to whisper,
And this is what he said:

"Mommy please don't cry,
I knew daddy wasn't coming home.
I talked to him just a while ago,
But it wasn't on the phone.

He told me that he loved me,
And he promised we'd meet again.
He told of his new home,
And the job he was to begin."

"God is building an army,
And there are many angels needed.
That, is where daddy and the others went.
They weren't all defeated."

It was then, the mother lifted her head.
The tears streamed down her face.
And she could feel her husband's presence,
As it filled her heart with grace.

It was then she knew her son was right.
He was in God's great army now.
She also knew her son was safe,
That he'd be kept from harm somehow.

So, evildoers of the world beware.
An army is on the way.
Bolstered by new angels,
Who left the towers that day..

Their commander has never been beaten.
His power has never been matched,
And if evil thinks He was almighty before......
Well, the surface has just been scratched!

9-11-02 - 1 year anniversary
We will NEVER forget!
GOD BLESS!

This past year has been tough for us in the service, the deployments, and the war time training. But not nearly as tough as Steves loving family has had it. Admitting defeat is not an option for us. Steve was not defeated, he was immortalized. His heroics will always be honored. Steve was the man who made me want to be an officer of the law. A standard setter, a keeper of peace, this is what Steve was, and still is in all of our hearts. Steve took me to the statue of liberty, the TWIN TOWERS, and had offered me to go on a ride along when I was on mid-tour leave coming from Korea. He was an idol to me. He did his job and paid the ultimate price for your and my freedom. To all of us that knew Steve he blessed us all with his sense of humor and his laugh. He had this laugh when he spent time with my father, they would roll, turn red and not be able to breathe. To all of you that didnt know him just wish you did he made this damned dark place a little brighter.
Thanks Steve we miss you!

I write this to say my heart sank on 9/11 Retired from the NYPD and living in Florida at the time seeing the bravery, courage and pain of my fellow active brothers and sisters of the NYPD inspired me to move back to NYC (my home)
I want you all to know I share in the grief of all that have lost loved ones, and my prayers go to all the fallen and their families and loved ones.
I sit here with tears in my eyes as I read the memorial pages and as I type this.
I truly believe you and all the others that gave their lives on 9/11 are in a better place smiling down on us all now.
I only pray a peace can be found in the hearts of those hurting today, and that they will find the inner strength to go on with the life their loved ones would be proud of.
The fallen, the survivors, and the families of all are the true heroes of 9/11 and will never be forgotten.
I am truly proud of the bravery of the active members of the force of which I retired years ago.
The men and women in Blue are the most caring, bravest, honorable people on this earth today.
With a little special place in my heart know that I pray for you all each day.

Just one look at who you were and I have no question in my mind as to why you were where you were at that very moment that the towers fell. You were not there by accident, you answered the call.

I don't doubt that you may have been scared just like everyone else but what you did despite all of the fear, panic and death around you is truly remarkable and exceptionally heroic. Most of all, what you did was show us all what the best of human nature and virtue looks like in the face of terrifying, overwhelming, death and destruction.

That spirit is too strong to fade away into nothingness - I have to believe that a spirit that strong and true lives on beyond the bounds of this mortal vessel as a new creation, in the warm company of all those called to glory that September morning.

Steve,
My heart goes out to your family and fellow officers. We met several years ago at the Police Memorial in Washington DC, where we honored other fallen officers. We will be there again this year to honor you my brother.
