Went back to NYC after 20 years in Arizona. Went to 1PP, saw the memorial on the wall in the lobby, thought of my three buddies that died, John D, Keith Levine and Chris Hoban. I left in tears.

To the family and friends of John D’Allaria:
For twenty years I gave proudly worn a NYPD hat with your name on it to honor the sacrifices you made on 9/1//01. For years I have appreciated and understood the value of a strong police and emergency responder presence, and want you all to know that the vast majority of people appreciate what you do and repudiate the current trend to defund police and other nonsense that falsely misrepresents the function of police. A strong
Police presence is necessary for society to function and heroes that pay the ultimate price to do their duty must be respected and praised for their service. John and I were the same age. He gave his life so that others may live. He is a hero and we remember him.

John,

Today I ran in the Tunnel to Towers 5k in Buffalo, NY on the 20th anniversary of your death. Every runner gets a fallen first responder to attach to their clothing and run in their honor. I chose you. I was 10 years old on 9/11 and will never forget. I am also in law enforcement. Thank you for your service and I am thinking of your family today. Thank you for running with me.

Dear Officer D’Allara,

Although I never met you, I remember your accomplishments fondly. I graduated Park West High School (where you taught before becoming an officer) the summer right after 9/11. I was awarded the John D’Allara HERO Award during commencement. During graduation I recall all the ways you helped people: a son, husband, father, teacher, officer, and can’t help but think about all the lives you’ve impacted even after you’ve moved to heaven. This year is a bit different but I would watch the news and await to hear you name being recited during the memorial. Wishing you and your loved ones peace.

I cannot say enough or offer enough tears or emotions for the numerous, numerous amazing men and women who gave so selflessly and heroically that day and for still many, the numerous days that followed over the numerous years to come. On this 19th anniversary of one of the deadliest days for American law enforcement I'd like to say to you all thank you, God Bless you and rest in peace always knowing that your service and sacrifice will never, ever be forgotten by your law enforcement brethren.

Dear John,

I became aware of your story through your brother Dan. We met because my students designed and raised funds to build a 9-11 Memorial at their school campus in Griswold, CT. Dan spoke at the dedication last September. His presence and powerful words left me with the feeling that your presence is part of our Memorial.

You and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

May you rest in peace.

Hi John,
I never met you personally but I have met you by meeting your Great twin Brother Dan a few years ago. Your Brother is a strong , kind, thoughtful person to All.
An incredible sense of humor, and a tremendous heart. Meeting him and learning of you has helped me in many ways.
God Bless you and your parents. Your Brother has continued the fight to make sure you and Our Brothers and Sisters are Not Forgotten and that Justice will be served.

I probably met you a few times as a child but I feel like I know you. My father worked with you in truck 2. Your death affected him deeply. He is a man of very few words but he kept a picture of you in his workspace up until the day he retired. This showed me the importance of you in his life, and his grief when you were taken away. I pray you have found peace and that your family feels your guidance everyday.

John, it has been 17 years but my heart still aches. We were patrol partners a lot when we were in the Bronx Task Force in 1987. I will never forget the time we were fighting with that escaped prisoner in the 44 Pct. We caught him on the rooftop in the snow and he was fighting with us and trying to push us to the edge. You were my hero then and will always be a hero. RIP PARTNER.

To John & his family: When I heard that Steve Bonano dies last week I was as sad as I was when I heard you were in the buildings when they went down. I can remember all of us on patrol in the 046 and the memories are great but my heart hurts soo much. God bless you all and I pray for you every day.
