Reflections for Police Officer Moira Ann Reddy-Smith
I was in the police academy on 9/11...every time I get ready to work I see P/O Moira Smith's picture in my locker. Every time my shift ends, I say a silent "Thank You" that I get to go home to my daughter, Audrey Moira Smith. I named her in honor of a hero, P/O Moira Smith. RIP.

I proudly wear a dog tag with off Smith, Capt Kathy Mazza [PAPD] and EMT Yamel Merino[MetroCare]. These 3 heroes gave their lives to save hundreds. Officer Smith was photographed helping a man to an EMT, then she ran back into the WTC. I am so inspired by the bravery of these women, and all of the women who served on 9/11.

I am a retired law enforcement officer of 30 years. I made my first trip to New York the weekend of 9-11-11. I was lucky to be one of the first to get to view the memorial grounds on 9-12-11. I went straight to Officer Moira Smith's name to make a charcoal etching of it. My wife and I will proudly hang it along with others on a wall in our home.

I couldn't be there to help on the day 9/11 2001, because I live in Sweden - But when I went there 5 months later and walked up 5th Ave and learned about your memorial service - I felt I got a chance to honner you and your brave work. Every year and even now and then you and your family are always in my thoughts and prayers. I send you and your family my love!

Moira,
I cried when I read how your brave actions saved people...thank you for being on this earth. I cannot find the right words to express how amazing I think you are. I know you don't think about how amazing you are because you were "just" doing your job. Yes, you were, amazingly well! You are an angel...I love and admire you so much!! I will always remember you!
Love,
Anca

As a Ct.retired Police officer the story of Officer Moira Smith has touched me very deeply. Off.Smith was an extremly brave officer and dedicated to the 13th. I am a police car collector and have purchased a retired NYPD cushman scooter that will be restored back to it's original condition and NYPD numbers and markings. This project and finished police vehicle will also display "IN DEDICATION and MEMORY of Officer Moria Smith NYPD 9/11/01 of the "13". God bless Moria Smith, her family and the 13th. [email protected]

No memorials can testify to the sacrifice you gave on September 11th, 2001.
No epitaphs can bring rememberance to your acts of courage.
No reflections can properly honor your memory.
On September 11th, I walked down from the 73rd floor of the South Tower. I walked down 73 flights of stairs because there was a path. There was a path because you stood at the base of the Tower guiding people to safety.
As I walked down into the lobby, you stood with determination. Your voice clearly directed us to safety. There was no hesitation. Your badge, your authority, were never questioned.
Not dozens, not even hundreds, but thousands were saved that morning by your voice...by your presence. Your voice led thousands to safety. I am one of them.
In the face of great evil on September 11, 2001; we see greater good. You demonstrated that good overcomes evil. I will always remember you as I prepare for the challenges and work yet to be done. Thank you for showing me what duty, honor and courage truly mean.

Moira,
As I get ready for the memorial services this year I think back to the day in 2002 when they finally located your body... I was in New York a few days later, and when I touched your name, I cried and my granson, who was 7 at the time reminded me not to cry, "because I had another angel on my shoulder". He was so right because I know you're there for those of us who carry on, and for Patty and your husband. You will never be forgotten.... you are a hero.
