Reflections for Police Officer Moira Ann Reddy-Smith
During the time of 9/11 our lives were full of great sadness and loss. Many friends were lost and even those who were not known to me personally.
Of all that I remember the most, Moira it is you. I had not the beauty of knowing you as a strong woman, mother or person yet my husband and I were at your funeral. I wanted to attend for so many reasons.
I learned many things about you this day. When I saw your husband stand before the crowd of many and speak of you, I knew that you and he shared not only a passion for your work but great love. I am sure that you were there though, guiding him along.
What did break my heart was not only the fact that you were lost, but you were a Mom! Your daughter was beautiful! You should be proud of a job well done! The procession stopped right next to me for a short period and there she was. I did not want her to see my tears so I smiled with a smile that a child enjoys and said hello. She was cute. She giggled and smiled back with a scrunched up nose. If only for that brief moment, I made her smile.
I wept after she passed because she will not have you with her (on this earth) through her life but I am sure that she is well with your husband and families!
Time will pass and you will still be missed, even by those that you do not know.
Your sacrifice was great and we pray that you are smiling on your family from Heaven!
Yours is never to be forgotten!
God Bless...

I have today read the reflections for P.O. Moira Smith and like any decent human being are moved to hear of her horoic actions and the tragedy of her family who were left behind. In my country there are words spoken in regards to defence personnel who never returned, which I believe are apt in these circumstances.
She shall not grow old as those that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary her, or the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember her,
Lest We Forget

Yesterday marked the third anniversary of that September morning of when terrorist changed our way of life forever. Late last night I sat and watched a program that featured you. Your husband told your story of how you and so many others on that day ran back into danger to help others. I watched as your two year old daughter held your gun belt that was recovered from ground zero along with your keys with her picture on the key chain. On that September morning I made a promise to my self and to the victims of 9/11 that in my career in law enforcement which I soon will enter I would do everything in my power to prevent anything like that from ever happening again. Last night when I watched your daughter and husband I reminded my self of that promise. I thank you for your sacrifice and will not let you and so many others down.

It is coming to the third year aniversary of 9 11. Today they played tributes to all the heros who lost their lives. I heard your radio transmission to the dispatcher calling for help and I cant imagine how you felt. It brought tears to my eyes, every officers worse nightmare hearing a fellow officer in trouble and yet not able to assist. God answered your 10-13 that day. God Bless You.

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.
You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because God honors it.
You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.
Thank you for your service to America. Your efforts saved thousand that horrible day.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends. You will be in our hearts forever.

I sit here in silence completely overwhelmed by the messages that I have just read, and I'm still overcome with emotion at the loss of such beautiful people like yourself, who gave all to save people they didn't even know.
Not a day goes by that I don't think about how many brave men and women perished on that fateful day, however, I'm given hope and promise in knowing that your spirit dwells in the house of the lord. Rest well for your job on this earth was done.
My heart and prayers go out to you and your family, along with the countless other NYPD and NYFD personnel who lost their lives..Your Brother in arms...

I've read the beautiful tributes to this officer and I was overwhelmed by there passion and warmth. I did not know officer Moria Smith before but now I feel I've known her for a life time.
Truly she must have been an insperation to others. Her and all the other heros who unselfishly, gave their all must be remembered forever. We , as fellow officers, have that responsibility to carry out.
God Bless them all.

Moira,
The memories of how you lived will overshadow the loss that we feel in your passing. Our words are weak compared to the feelings in our hearts.......... We'll see you at the gates...

I CHOSE THIS OFFICER TO LOOK AT BECAUSE I HAD AN ANXIOUS FEELING THAT SHE, LIKE MANY OF OUR OFFICERS , LEFT A FAMILY BEHIND WHEN SHE LOST HER LIFE SERVING HER CITY AND HER COUNTRY. AS SHE WAS ATTEMPTING SAVE LIVES AT THE WTC SHE GAVE HER OWN. MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER HUSBAND AND TO HER CHILD. SHE IS PROBABLY TOO YOUNG TO FULLY UNDERSTAND. I KNOW I DON`T FULLY UNDERSTAND MYSELF. BE ASSURED MY WIFE AND I WILL PRAY OFTEN FOR THIS VICTIM`S FAMILY AND ALL WHO WERE AFFECTED THIS WAY.

It was late one Tuesday evening,
Before a father could sit down,
To tell his only child about
The terror that hit downtown.
He looked into the eyes of his son
God, he loved him so,
He felt his heart begin to break
And the hurt begin to show.
He gathered all his strength and courage,
as his story he began to tell.
"Son don't cry, but I'm afraid Mommy
Might be under a building that fell."
The boy looked back at his father,
His eyes made not one blink.
And the father's tears began to fall.
What would his little son think?
You see, his Mom is a Policewoman,
And his hero from the day of his birth.
He loved his Mom more than anything else
That could ever inherit this earth.
The father's head began to drop,
His forehead resting on palm.
He thought his son would be upset.
Instead, he was very calm.
The boy leaned over towards his Dad,
And put his hand upon his head.
In his ear he began to whisper,
And this is what he said:
"Daddy please don't cry,
I knew Mommy wasn't coming home.
I talked to her just a while ago,
But it wasn't on the phone.
She told me that she loved me,
And she promised we'd meet again.
She told of her new home,
And the job she was to begin."
"God is building an army,
And there are many angels needed.
That, is where Mommy and the others went.
They weren't all defeated."
It was then, the father lifted his head.
The tears streamed down his face.
And he could feel his wife's presence,
As it filled his heart with peace.
It was then he knew his son was right.
She was in God's great army now.
He also knew his son was safe,
That he'd be kept from harm somehow.
So, evildoers of the world beware.
An army is on the way.
Bolstered by new angels,
Who left the towers that day..
Their commander has never been beaten.
His power has never been matched,
And if evil thinks He was almighty before......
Well, the surface has just been scratched!
9-11-02 - 1 year anniversary
We will NEVER forget!
GOD BLESS!
