Reflections for Police Officer Moira Ann Reddy-Smith
Dear Moira:
A hero comes to us in many different ways, in many different people. A hero can be a man, a woman, black or white, Jew or Christian, but nonetheless, a hero. And that is EXACTLY what you are...a HERO.
I hope that, from a better place, you are aware that as a result of your actions, many of our fellow countrymen survived, that otherwise would not have. I hope that, from a better place, you can smile down on us that are still here, and realize that we now must be as dedicated as you were that horrible day, to ensure our countrymen that the police will do WHATEVER it takes.
Whatever it takes to protect our country, our countrymen, our very way of life, that is what we, the police, have sworn to do. To protect our homeland from ALL enemies, foreign AND domestic. You, Moira, did precisely that. And you are now a hero, one of the NYPD's Finest, and certainly one of America's Finest. Rest in peace, and thank you for your sacrifice and service. Amen

To the husband, daughter, other family and loved ones of Officer Moira Smith and her fellow officers with the New York City Police Department and most especially to Moira:
Mere words seem insignificant to honor your heroism and courage which will never be forgotten. On this the fifth anniversary month of the tragic devastation wreaked upon our nation, those brave men and women who lost their lives safeguarding others are remembered and revered.
May your spirit continue to soar and your memory continue to inspire.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect and gratitude for the distinquished service Moira gave to her community and country, and for the supreme sacrifice she and her family made on September 11, 2001.

To the family and loved ones of Ofc. Smith -
As a police officer and the wife of a police officer, my thoughts and prayers still go out to the family of Officer Smith. On 09-11-06, I was looking through a local newspaper and saw a picture of Moira's daughter with President Bush. The image of the President bending down to hug the little girl was heartbreaking. As the mother of a two year-old-son, my own personal thoughts revolve around returning home and being a good mother and wife. I'm not sure if everyone realizes what type of sacrifice Moira made. She sacrificed her life as a mother/wife/daughter/friend to save the lives of others. Knowing how much my son and husband mean to me, I commend Moira's bravery and selfless sacrifice. May her husband and daughter find comfort in the fact that her legacy lives on and that she will always be remembered as a hero. And will others remember that while they're sleeping/enjoying time with family/or just watching tv - their are millions of Police Officers willing to sacrifice all they have for the well-being of others.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” (Matthew 5:10)

It broke our hearts to lose you,
but you did not go alone.
A part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but God calls us all one by one, the chain will link again.
A million times we've needed you,
a million times we've cried.
If love could have only saved you,
you never would have died.
The Lord be with you and May you Rest in Peace.
It has been five years, tomorrow that you gave your life, when others were in need. Your a true hero and you will never forgotten!

On September 11th, 2001, an number of men and women amazed the world with their phenomenal acts of bravery. When other ran away, they charged forward. When others reached out for safety, they offered a helping hand. When others cried out, they responded with a soothing voice. And, tragically, many of them died...but in doing so taught us all how to live.
With their sacrifice they redefined the word “HEROES”
