Reflections for Police Officer Ramon Suarez
I MET YOU A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO WHEN YOU WORKED IN DIST 4
AND I WORKED IN MN. YOU ARE A GOOD PERSON, SEE YOU IN HEAVEN.

Dear Ramon:
This reflection is to keep the promise I made to all of you on 11 September 2001...that I will NEVER forget, I will never ALLOW others to forget, and to write a reflection to each of you.
I look to the heavens at night, and gaze at the stars, wondering if you and all the rest that served so honorably, are looking down on us. If so, smile and rest easy...you are FOREVER a hero, and FOREVER one of America's Finest.
Bravery can be defined in so many ways, but none, as clearly as what you did. With the North Tower about to collapse, still you went inside to assist one of our countrymen, and as a result, paid the ultimate price. I believe that your sacrifice, your professionalism, and your determination to save others, has put you in same class as our honored dead from Bunker Hill, to New Orleans, to The Alamo, to Mexico City, to Gettysburg, to San Juan Hill, to the Argonne Forest, to Normandy, to Kaison, to Grenada, to Afganistan and Iraq.
My prayer for you, our fallen brothers and sisters, all the families, is that EVERYONE remember ALWAYS, that our style of life, our very existence is being threatened by a determined, fanatical group of people. But because of you and all the rest that gave all they had that day, our enemies fell short, way short. And you, Ramon, will serve as a reminder to us all, that our police officers are truly, America's Finest. We have the watch, rest in peace, my brother. Amen

Mere words seem insignificant to honor your heroism and courage which will never be forgotten. On this the fifth anniversary month of the tragic devastation wreaked upon our nation, those brave men and women who lost their lives safeguarding others are remembered and revered.
May your spirit continue to soar and your memory continue to inspire.

Brother Suarez,
You made the ultimate sacrafice. On the cold day in september you did what no one else would do. You ran into that building as others ran away from it. I cried that day for all of the police officers and firefighters that made the ultimate sacrafice. Now that several years have passed I still put my uniform on and pin my badge to me chest. Not because its my job but because its my duty. I go out there everyday and face the danger that others are afraid to face because of you. You are my hero. As a police officer i still mourn your death but i honor it every day by continuing my watch. I must go now brother rest in peace.
Blessed are the peace makers for they shall be called the children of God

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.
You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because God honors it.
You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.
Thank you for your service to America. Your efforts saved thousand that horrible day.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends. You will be in our hearts forever.

I too saw that photo. What a hero. He was out and did not have to go in, but in true heroes fashion, he knew there were more people to save and ran back in, never to return.
This man is a true hero. He represents the absolute best humanity has to offer.
Rest in peace.
I was one of the 340 officers who attended the 911 memorial in manhattan NY 2002.

whilst at the NYPD museum in manhattan i was touched by the bravery of the officers of that fateful day in 2001.

It was late one Tuesday evening,
Before a mother could sit down,
To tell her only child about
The terror that hit downtown.
She looked into the eyes of her son
God, she loved him so,
She felt her heart begin to break
And the hurt begin to show.
She gathered all her strength and courage,
as her story she began to tell.
"Baby don't cry, but I'm afraid daddy
Might be under a building that fell."
The boy looked back at his mother,
His eyes made not one blink.
And the mother's tears began to fall.
What would her baby think?
You see, his dad is a Policeman,
And his hero from the day of his birth.
He loved his dad more than anything else
That could ever inherit this earth.
The mother's head began to drop,
Her forehead resting on palm.
She thought her son would be upset.
Instead, he was very calm.
The boy leaned over towards his mom,
And put his hand upon her head.
In her ear he began to whisper,
And this is what he said:
"Mommy please don't cry,
I knew daddy wasn't coming home.
I talked to him just a while ago,
But it wasn't on the phone.
He told me that he loved me,
And he promised we'd meet again.
He told of his new home,
And the job he was to begin."
"God is building an army,
And there are many angels needed.
That, is where daddy and the others went.
They weren't all defeated."
It was then, the mother lifted her head.
The tears streamed down her face.
And she could feel her husband's presence,
As it filled her heart with grace.
It was then she knew her son was right.
He was in God's great army now.
She also knew her son was safe,
That he'd be kept from harm somehow.
So, evildoers of the world beware.
An army is on the way.
Bolstered by new angels,
Who left the towers that day..
Their commander has never been beaten.
His power has never been matched,
And if evil thinks He was almighty before......
Well, the surface has just been scratched!
9-11-02 - 1 year anniversary
We will NEVER forget!
GOD BLESS!

I had the pleasure of working with Ray while assigned to District #33 with the New York City Transit Police. Ray was the ultimate partner. You could always count on him, especially when it came time to rock & roll. Ray did not need 9-11 to be considered a hero by his peers, he had already received this exhalted honor for previous acts of bravery while working the mean streets of Brooklyn, New York.
My heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to his wife Carmen and their family. Ray will be missed by us all. May God bless him.
Fraternally yours,

Just wanted to take a moment to remember Ray, who's smile lit up a room. He is truly one of New York's Finest and will never be forgotten. God Bless all those who put themselves in harm's way for people they may never know. All Law Enforcement officers, Firefighters, EMS and our Military who are currently seeing that those responsible for taking Ray's life and the lives of all those lost on 09-11-01 are punished. God Bless Them and God Bless America

It doesn't surprise me at all that Ray was there doing what he felt he had to do. I imagine that even if he knew the inevitable fate of those buildings, he still would have been one of the first in.
I would occasionally bump into him in downtown NY, always smiling and so obviously proud to wear the badge. We worked together in the brokerage industry at E.F. Hutton & Co. before he joined the force and was truly glad that I would occasionally run into him. I am saddened that I will never have one of those chance meetings with him again, but I am just as proud of his efforts (and the efforts of all the other brave souls) on that fatefull day that spared so many others.
God speed Ray,
You will always be remembered.
