Antonio Rodrigues, I chose your lanyard because you share a name with my father. When I read your story I realized we have many things in common, I truly felt like you chose me as well. Yesterday, I ran with your lanyard, and created a t-shirt for the Tunnel to Towers 5k race in your honor. Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice on September 11. 2001 and may you I can assure your heroic actions will not be forgotten. Rest in eternal peace Antonio.

Today I did the Charleston Memorial Climb, June 17, 2023 and I had Officer Antonio Rodrigues with me. The climb was hard but not nearly hard as what he faced on 9/11 and what he gave his life for. It was an honor to climb for and with him.

Yesterday, September 12, 2021, I was one of 500 motorcycle riders who rode from one Harley Davidson store in Knoxville to another to commemorate the officers, firefighters and EMT’s killed in the 9/11 tragedy at the Twin Towers. Before we took off, I chose Officer Rodrigues’ lanyard so he could ride along with me. It was a wonderful tribute to these first responders who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Twenty years later we still remember. We will not forget.

Today I walked 90 floors in tactical gear and gas mask in your honor at the San Diego 9\11 memorial. It is a very small token of appreciation for your sacrifice in such a vial incident. I did you proud and carried your name on my back for all to see. Peace be with you brother.

Where do I begin. I cant start to think of all the memories we shared. From pre-academy when I would pick you up from home and drive us to get trainee clothes. To you standing in line at roll call hearing you count off your number, 52 or 62, with that accent you have. Every damn morning haha. Now you too are gone. I speak about it like it happened yesterday, but its been 7 years now. I remember you telling me about all of your life experience. We would sit in traffic on the Belt Pkwy and you would just talk and talk. But honestly, you were a well rounded guy and I liked listening to you. I remember your wife and kids and the area you lived in, in Nassau County. That pizzeria we went to that afternoon before I dropped you off at home. I cant belive it all ended like this. Me leaving you a reflection on a memorial website. It makes me sad man. I wish I could call you and make plans for a beer or something. I hope your life in heaven is as fullfilling as your life here was. Im sure when we reunite, you'll have stories to tell me like always. RIP.

To the family and loved ones of Officer Antonio Rodriquez and his fellow officers with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department and most especially to Antonio:
Mere words seem insignificant to honor your heroism and courage which will never be forgotten. On this the fifth anniversary week of the tragic devastation wreaked upon our nation, those brave men and women who lost their lives safeguarding others are remembered and revered.
May your spirit continue to soar and your memory continue to inspire.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect and gratitude for the distinquished service Antonio gave to his community and country, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 11, 2001.
