Reflections for Police Officer Alfonse Joseph Niedermeyer, III

On the anniversary of 9/11, I thank you and your comrades for your selfless duty and courage that momentous day. Your sacrifice and those of the victims and other first responders will forever be honored in the annals of brave men and women who gave their all for their city, state and for the United States of America. A hero in every sense of the word.

During our annual Tunnel to Towers 5k in Middle TN which raises money to assist the families of fallen first responders and veterans, all participants receive a badge with a photo and the name of a first responder who lost their life during the attacks on 9/11. The badge is attached to our clothing for the 5k so they can cross the finish line with us and not be forgotten. I received a badge with Officer Niedermeyer's name and photo to carry with me during the event and decided to look him up online to learn more about the hero I had the privilege to represent which lead me to this page. Hopefully his family and friends know that all over the United States people still remember his name and the sacrifices he made. Even in small towns in Tennessee, Officer Niedermeyer is not forgotten.

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.

You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because God honors it.

You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.

Thank you for your service to America. Your efforts saved thousand that horrible day.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends. You will be in our hearts forever.

I tried to attend as many funerals as I could during these darkest of days as my way of showing respect to families and coworkers of all of my brother and sister Officers and Firefighters. I cannot find the words to say how sorry I am that we have lost these great heroes. I cannot express my thanks enough for your bravery and sacrifice. My prayers are with you and all of your families......................AC
