There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.
You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because God honors it.
You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.
Thank you for your service to America. Your efforts saved thousand that horrible day.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends. You will be in our hearts forever.

I tried to attend as many funerals as I could during these darkest of days as my way of showing respect to families and coworkers of all of my brother and sister Officers and Firefighters. I cannot find the words to say how sorry I am that we have lost these great heroes. I cannot express my thanks enough for your bravery and sacrifice. My prayers are with you and all of your families......................AC

The best recollection I have of David is when he was an EMT for the Union City Ambulance Corps back in the early 1990's. He was a big "gentle giant" who truly loved helping people. It was obvious to see the pride he showed every time he responded to an accident scene or a simple sick call. I know he carried that pride & devotion to duty when he became a Port Authority Police Officer.
David, I know for a fact that Frankie & "Tony Bones" miss you very much. You will always be kept alive in our hearts. We did our parts, with selflessness in Ground Zero by spending every spare moment digging on "The Pile." And yet, when someone called me a hero, I cried, and thought of you. You, and all of those who have fallen with you are the heroes. As long as I live, I will keep honoring all of you who have fallen on 9/11.

My Prayers are with all the friends and family of all the officers who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
I lost my brother tragically, Det. David Taylor, Greensboro PD, On August 7, 2001. I was in NY for my fiancee's Mother's funeral the first of Sept. I was stranded there for 3 weeks due to this atrocity. As I watched the events on TV, I cried for all those who lost their lives. But was especially emotional about the Police Officers and the Firefighters and their families, as I had just recently suffered a tragic loss myself. As I walked through the streets in the days following the attack, I cried with pride as I saw the officers on duty on all the corners in the city. I knew how hard it was for them, knowing they had lost their friends. On the Sat. following the attack I was at St. Patrick's for mass. The last 2 people to go up and take communion were 2 NYPD officers, again I cried. I hope all of you are getting the support that my family and I got when we needed it, from the Deparment. I know the comforting words and even the funny stories the officers tell us about my brother helps. I know that our loved ones who are gone from here, had a higher calling and are happy and at peace in Heaven. Hopefully we can all feel that same peace one day! God bless All of you! And God bless America!

My favorite memory of you was seeing you after school at the Union City Emergency Squad. From that moment on I knew you would be that person you turned out to be... a HERO...
Always thinking of everyone else and putting yourself last.
Your Mother and Father have done the best in raising you. They are so proud of you. You have helped so many people in your life and you still continue to. You touch my life in many special ways, especially being a mentor to my son, your cousin, Gabe. I hope he follows your steps as he says he will. You have the greatest job now, God has chosen you to be an "ANGEL", and you have a lot of people to look over.
I know you will do to same in heaven as you have done on earth, touched us all in a spritual way.
Until we are together again. We Love You , miss you & never will forget you... Titi Ali,Tio Jose, Gabe and Daniel
Little that I know that the only other family member ever to become a police officer would fall in the line of duty, so young and so soon. David has always proven to everyone that he was a young man of courage and responsibility. His heroic efforts on that tragic day will always remind me of his unsellfishness as he gave up his own life bravely to give a whole new meaning to the words "To Serve and Protect." May you protect the gates of Heaven as well as you protected us in this life. You will always be my Hero. Forever In My Heart Brother. In Love We Pray Jose,Elsie,Melissa It seems like bad things always happen to good people. Why is that, and what can I do about it?

In Memory of A Hero!
Born February 20, 1974 From his early days as a child at age 11 David clearly knew what his mission in life was, that of helping people in need. He began in 1985 as an Explorer in Post 525 with the Union City Volunteer Ambulance Corp. In 1990, while in his sophomore year of high school, David received his EMT Certification from the Bergen County EMS Training Academy and quickly entered into service with the Union City Volunteer Ambulance Corp.
Having graduated from Hudson Catholic H.S. in 1992 David was hired as an EMT with the Jersey City Medical Center and took on simultaneous responsibilities as an EMT for UMDNJ through 1993. A burning desire to do more led David to receive an Associates Degree in ParaMedicine from UMDNJ in 1994, and was subsequently hired as a Paramedic with the Jersey City Medical Center, his MICP#1889. Recognizing David's superior talent and leadership skills UMDNJ elevated him to Ride Master of the UMDNJ EMS Bike Team in 1995 where he served through 1999. Success waits for no one and David was clearly on that path as he began to pursue studies in Sports Medicine at Kean University. In 1998 he was promoted to Tour Chief of the Jersey City Medical Center in charge of Emergency Services. That same year he was also made a member of the NJSEA Meadowlands Arena as a Team Paramedic. Having aided and saved numerous lives in medical crisis, David understood his calling and what it meant to be of "Service."
David embraced his calling willingly, wholeheartedly, and humbly. He did not know where his path in life would lead, but, as a man of strong faith and trust in God, and with the love and support of his family, he was able to forge ahead on the journey of life. His desire to provide for his family and to be of service to his community, led David on August 7, 2000 to take his rightful place among the ranks of the one of the Nation's best police department, that of the Port Authority Police of New York and New Jersey, his Badge #834. What was sure to have been a stellar career, was cut short on a fateful Tuesday on September 11, 2001.
David left this world committed and true to his mission and vocation, and we know he lived out that vocation up through the final moments of his young life, having saved 2 fellow comrades of the PA Police among them two superior officers; and a 3rd civilian security guard. David, as strong and kingly as his name implies, took charge and led them all to safety. He could have saved himself, but bearing witness to the Gospel message that of, "No Greater Love is there than this, than to lay down one's life for a friend," David heard the voice of God calling in the pain and suffering of those in need, and his response was simply "Here I am Lord." And David went home.
"WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT!WELL DONE!"
short on a fateful Tuesday on September 11, 2001.
David is survived by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Grandmother, Grandfather, Great Aunt; Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Godson , and an abundance of extended family and friends, and girlfriend.
You will Forever Live in our Hearts and Memories.
Uncle, Eddie Marrero
