Officer Froehner,
Monday, September 11, 2017, marked the 16th anniversary of 9/11. I was in Utah on military orders and the base had a 9.11 mile ruck march. I, along with many others from my unit (419th Security Forces Squadron), marched with pride for those fallen on that terrible day. I was given the honor to walk in your name.
You are a hero to this nation and please know that you are not forgotten. I pray that God blesses your family and this great nation.
RIP Brother.

My first grandson was born on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 and came home for his first time on Sept 10. Noah James would not have been a part of my life if Gregg and my husband were not firefighters and friends together in New Jersey in 1980. Gregg introduced us and we had 3 beautiful daughters and now our first grandson. We never know how or when we touch someone's life, even if it is just for a fleeting moment, but there is always a lasting impact. With so many others, Gregg was taken from his family on 9/11/01, but I know he will be watching over his family forever. He was always dedicated and professional and will always be remembered for the lives he touched, the lives he saved, and sacrificing his own.

On the tenth anniversary of nine eleven, during a special church service, we were each given a policeman or firefighter or soldier who gave their life protecting us. I was given your name. We were told to pray for your family, so every day I do that. Thank you for your bravery and all you did on that terrible day, I will never forget.

Officer Froehner shortly after 9/11/01 several of us from the Tallahassee Police Department purchased random memorial bracelets from those who lost their lives on 9/11/01. The bracelet sent to me has your name, rank and agency on it. We wore them with pride when they arrived. I was working as an Investigator and was at work when we were attacked. Today I am also working my patrol shift and wearing your memorial bracelet proudly to honor your sacrifice you made on that tragic day. We will never forget...NEVER!

Dear Gregg:
As I keep my promise I made to all of you who died that day by writing this reflection, I think to myself how honored I am to be a part of the greatest fraternity on this planet. Honor and valor...two things that define a man's character. And brother, you have them both.
I say have and not had, because you are still here with us, forever. Though we can't touch you or see you or hear you, you are still here. You are here 25,000 times. The number of innocent lives that you helped save.
America has rarely experienced war and terror on her sacred soil, thankfully. But whenever she has experienced it, there was always a hero who rose from the ashes and mayhem, the death and destruction, to take control and save lives. George Washington, Andrew Jackson, U.S. Grant are among the many. And now, sir, so are you. Some may think that the company in which you are mentioned in above, is an overstatement. I respond by saying, any person who willingly gives up his life to save others from an attack such as 11 September 2001, MUST be mentioned in that company of American heroes. Because he is one!
I pray that the many lives that were spared because of your dedication and professionalism, always, everyday, remember that they are only here because of your sacrifice.
I pray too, that our Father in Heaven ease the sorrow and the loneliness your family must deal with. I pray that God keeps you in the palm of His hand, and continues to bless all police officers, and God Bless America. Amen

a hero lives forever.....

Dear Gregg:
Since the attack of September 11, 2001, I have made a promise to myself, to write a reflection to each of the fallen police officers, as I learn their identity, who made the supreme sacrifice, along with you, that fateful day.
Though the animals who designed and carried out the attacks that killed so many inncoent people, men, women, and children, were successful in their endeavors, they underestimated all of us, in particular, the police officers. What they failed to understand, is that police officers like yourself, have no reservation whatsoever, to risk everything to save others, and our way of life. They failed to understand that we police officers, are just as committed to protecting our fellow countrymen and our homeland, as our troops are overseas.
Your death was not in vain, oh no, not ever. Because you inspired the rest of us to rise up and to do WHATEVER it takes to execute the oath we took. "Man knows greater love than the one who lays down his life for another". As that saying from the Bible is a sacred one that all religions recognize, so is the sacrifice you made an equally sacred one.
You, and everyone who made the sacrifice that day, have made all of us who wear a badge, proud to be police officers. All of you exemplify what American police officers are all about, and the fact that we are willing to die to protect our fellow countrymen, and the way of life, we as Ameicans have come to enjoy.
May Almighty God hold you close, and may He smile forever on your family.
Amen.
