In memory of George G Howard. I attended a 911 memorial Harley ride on 910. As part of reflections,Harley of Knoxville asked each rider to pick up a memorial card so a face could be placed with this tragedy. I received George's tag. Coming from a long line of law enforcement I am proud to have George ride along with me now hoping forward. I will always remember a face that gave it all. I am proud to have him as my Harley Angel. God will always care for you George.

I remember George from my days at Chaminade High School on Long Island. George (1975) graduated one year before I did (1976) and I remember him as a somewhat standard student who came in the morning, did his studies and left in the afternoon. Little did I know that in 2001, he would be hailed as a hero of 911: rushing to the scene to help others without regard for his personal safety (I heard he was killed by someone who had jumped out of the WTC, who knows, it's not important). He was one of 15 graduates of my high school who died at this site on this date (along with four parents of then current students). I certainly recall President Bush holding up George's badage in the days after the attack as a symbol of all who served and died this date and I am proud to state that I attended the same high school as George and the 14 others who were killed. Remember them always.

My neice asked me today, what was the thing I remembered the most about 911. I thought about that deeply and answered George Howard. I was one of the Detectives that discovered Officer Howard on September 11th, a vision I would never forget. Although I did not know him, I was saddened by his death. My fellow Detectives surrounded him, as not to allow nearbye photograghers to see him, until his department arrived. My prayers go out to his family, who lost such a brave soul, and to the Port Authority Police Department.
