Reflections for Master Trooper Calvin Eugene Taylor
Calvin it's been 23 years today since you answered your final call. I remember when I got the call on a beautiful sunny fall day. It seems like just yesterday. My world came crashing down. I think about you every day. I think about all the lives you touched and are still touching today. Mallory has a daughter Hayden who just turned 9. She would remind you of Mallory. I know that Hayden would love you just like Mallory and all of us do. RIP Brother.

I was asking my grandmother stories about first responders as she had worked around them her whole life. When I asked about any State Troopers she brought you up. In early 1984 my Uncle had been injured by a cinder block on his finger. My grandmother and grandfather went to the local medical clinic in Statesville, NC and they told them they couldn’t help them. And that they had to go to Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. And, during their (and perhaps speedy) trip down the highway. You pulled them over. My grandfather then jumped out the car and explained the situation. And, my grandmother had worked with your wife at the hospital. And you understood the situation they were in and gave them an escort down the highway. You are maybe the sole reason my uncle kept his pinky. Rest in Peace, Master Trooper Taylor.

It was 19 years ago today but it seems like yesterday when I received that dreaded telephone call that changed our lives forever. During your short time on this earth you touched many lives including mine. I can see your smiling face. Thank you for your encouraging words to Mallory. You were the example of who a law enforcement officer should be. You will always be in our minds and hearts. I know that you are in heaven looking down on us. RIP Brother.

IT HAS BEEN 19 YEARS SINCE HE WAS TAKEN AWAY. WE STILL MISS HIM AND TALK ABOUT HIM ALL THE TIME. WE HAVE SOME VERY PRECIOUS MEMORIES OF CALVIN. HE WAS ONE OF A KIND, WHAT A SENSE OF HUMOR...HE LOVED TO LAUGH AND LOVED TO MAKE PEOPLE LAUGH. I AM SURE THAT CALVIN AND MOM WERE WAITING WITH OPEN ARMS AND JUBILATION WHEN UNCLE TROY JOINED THEM LAST MONTH.....MISSING G530
