Thank you all so much for honoring my Great-Grandfather. The respect that you show for a fallen fellow officer a century later is a testament to the brotherhood that is Police Service. I will get a picture uploaded soon

Charles H. Bates would have been my ex-husband's grandfather, had he not been killed. I do not have a photo of him in uniform, although I have a scan of a family album page with him, his wife Grace, and his sons, who were both very young when he was killed. Charles' son's mother died, and their grandmother passed on before the boys graduated from Mission High School. While in H.S., they supported themselves by each working two 12-hour shifts on the weekend for the Call Bulletin.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 98th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace.
