Reflections for Police Officer Donan James "Jim" Faulkner, Jr.
I just can't believe how long it has been since I have seen you. I think of all the times that you made me laugh so hard. Things just are not the same without you. I hope that you are able to look over all of us and guide us in the right direction. God Bless your family!

May you rest in peace for your dedication to service to the citizens of Peoria. I grew up in Pekin, IL and often worked with members of the Peoria Police Department during the 1960's while assigned to the area. God bless your family.

The night shift crew were a group of regulars. Most of them were on third shift because they wanted to be, and had found they were good at the specialities that night times tend to bring out. Jim Faulker was one of the best. He was friendly, tried to help people, worked his own district with pride and confidence. He was a good person and a good cop. The night we lost Jim was th e most horrible nights of our lives and none of us will ever forget. We are blessed to have had so many good memories and good times with him before this night. I hope he is running his own district in heaven, still being 3 Adam 2. He is very much missed here in Peoria and is still regularly mentioned in conversation about old times, and also about concern the family he had to leave behind. Add all of them to your prayer lists.

You were highlighted on the website
today so I read all your reflections.
You died one week to the day after
one of our own deputies here in
Whatcom County, Washington. I am
just so sorry to learn that your life was taken so early. Your family
really needed you here to raise your
children. I can't imagine the trials your wife has faced without your help.
Hopefully, she looks to God for her
strength and your children know Him
as their Heavenly Father. Such wonderful things were said about
you. It's a crying shame what injustice beset you. The world needs
more people like you in it, not fewer.
I am deeply saddened by this HUGE
loss. May God comfort all those who
you love and all those who love you.

Officer Falulkner, you have not been forgotten. Even with the 4th anniversary being here I know the pain still runs deep among your family memebers and close friends. Keep watch over your family and those officers still out on patrol. You are a true hero.

Jim, I just wanted you and your family to know you are still a positive role model to others every day. I believe it was one of your children that spoke at your funeral and told of how you never became angry at your kids when they spilled their milk. That affected me, as I'm sure it did many others, in a big way. Now, when one of my boys spills something, or commits any number of other little childhood errors, and I am tempted to become angry, instead I think of you. And with four of them, I think of you often!
We only met a couple times, but I know what a "true blue" individual you were. The above example shows that, even in death, you are still serving and protecting. Rest in peace brother, and thank you.

Jimmy: Think of you everyday. We had so much fun at work. Miss all the laughs and your great humor. I know I can speak for Officers Craig Willis and Greg Miller. What a great team we were. You know how often I visit you but you are not really there. Only a piece of metal with your name on it, because you are in our souls and hearts until we too die. You were taken from us too soon! Well, little brother, I wish it would have been me instead of you, because you had so much more to give to this world than I could have ever done. See ya at the, LAST ROLL CALL, Chris.........

I wanted to stop in and say that you are a true Hero and that you have not been forgotten. Everyone will help to keep your memory alive so that your children come to know what a Hero you were. If you run into my son, please tell him I love him and miss him just as your family and friends miss you. God watch over your family and keep them safe.

I remember the what time it happened, where I was, and who I was with. It was about 11pm, farmington rd, and with five peoria police officers. We sat and watched three Peoria County Sheriff's Deputies driving in excess of 100mph. We all new something bad happened but didn't know what. Five minutes later was the worst news a fellow brother of law enforcement wants to hear. That night brought me closer to the Peoria Police Department and my friends that work there.
To your wife and children,
I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming.
I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
Yours very sincerely and respectfully,
JS

Jim,
You were one of the rare people that one encounters in life. You provided an example to all as a husband, a father and an officer. There are a lot of fellow cops who say that they try to emulate you. That is the ultimate compliment in a very cynical community.
You were always "true blue" and stood by your brothers. No one can ever remember you losing your cool or your temper. Always a consumate professional. What we do remember is your love of life and your dedication to your family. You always seemed to squeeze 27 hours out of each day. You worked more OT than most; built your family home by hand; held many side jobs to provide; and still never missed a class outing, a hockey practice or a soccer game. You were a truly amazing man in every way. Our world is a little less vibrant without you, Jim. God Bless You.

You will be forever missed by our department and community. There is not a day that goes by when I walk through the back doors a thought of you enters into my mind. I have several memories of you, mostly when I was a rookie on 3rd shift, but I will always remember you spotting me while I was squating a heavy weight in the workout room. Thank you!
Rest In Peace brother Jim.
