Reflections for Senior Trooper Maria Mignano
It seems impossible that four years has passed so quickly. We saw the flowers at the site on the 4th. You and Jason are missed by so many. You are in our thoughts daily, as well as your family. J&C

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.
Tonight, September 4, 2005 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Police Officer Jason Alan Hoerauf and Senior Trooper Maria Mignano who died in the line of duty on this date four years ago.
When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.
Officer Hoerauf's and Trooper Mignano's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

September 1, 2004 I rejoined the job I love most, working as a Police Officer. I live in Eugene, and commute to work every day to Turner, and each day and night I drive pass the place where Jason and Maria’s life tragically ended September 2001. Each day as I go by I say a word of thanks for your ultimate sacrifice and asked God to watch over the rest of us while we continue to do or job’s the best we can, and to keep us safe from harms way. Each day I am reminded to always keep a vigilant eye open around me for the unexpected. One day while I was driving by I saw what I thought was a ghost taking care of the memorial along I-5. I took the next off ramp and returned to the location to learn Maria has a twin sister (At least I hope she does, or I was seeing a ghost). I told her I will never forget the two of you, and that you will always be in our hearts. God bless you and you families.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to This Officer, as well as the Family, Friends, Department and Community.
This is a loss that will never be forgotten. Hours will turn into days, days turn into weeks, weeks into months and months into years but, the difference that these officers have made will last forever.
We lost Our Deputy Morris Taylor on September 14, 2002. When he joined the other Angels in Blue.
God Bless Our Law Enforcement Officers and Those Who Love Them.

It's been over two years and I still can't find words. My heart goes out to all who suffer this way.
To the people who've left reflections, I express my sincerest thanks. It is the comfort from friends like you and the Lord's faithfulness that help our family thru each day. We are so grateful for the kind words and compassion you have expressed for our brave sister. It truly helps to know how much you loved her.
I always knew police officers were special people, but I've come to appreciate and respect you all so much more through this tragic event.
I believe with all my being that Maria is more alive now than ever before, and she waits with joyful expectation for our own "homecoming". But I miss her here more than words can tell.
Maria, you did it "right". You are among the cloud of witnesses now (Heb. 12:1), encouraging us on as we finish our own race. I envision you praying for us, just as Jesus intercedes as He sits at the right hand of the Father. Thank you, Lord, for the "blessed assurance" that we will be re-united, never to be separated again.
Lord, may your blessing, grace and protection cover all officers and their families as they serve you by serving others.
Theresa, twin to Maria

It's hard to believe that it has now been two years since you were taken from us. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't stop and think about you, Jason, and John. The way you lived while you were with us this short time on earth is a testament to your faith and a faith all of us should be seeking. I have no doubt that you are patrolling the streets of heaven - with your ever present smile and welcoming heart. You are missed here, but I know that when my time comes, you will be there to greet me.

June 16, 2003 - Maria, I still miss you. Time means nothing when thinking of you. You will always be remembered. I still vividly remember the first time you rode with me before you joined the Oregon State Police. You were excited and anxious to start your career. You stayed enthused and dedicated until that fateful day that you were taken from us. I know the person that you were and know that the Lord welcomes you with a tender smile and open arms.

We bombed Iraq tonite, but it seems like we are at war here at home...
a war for justice and righteousness. How sad this dear officer was taken
in the battle. She has paid the supreme sacrifice and she will be fondly
remembered. God grant comfort, strength and peace to all those who
still mourn the huge void she left behind. Thank you for your wonderful

I was lucky enough to meet Maria, not too long before she was taken from us, and in the too short time we talked, I found her to be a very friendly, and easy to talk with person, as well as a hell of a police officer.
To remember that the jerk that killed her was sentenced to only TWO DAYS in jail is outragous !!
I'll always remember Maria, and just wanted to belatedly pass on my best wishes to her brother & sister officers, and all her friends and family.
Keep your heads up you people in blue, belive it or not there are those of us who appriciate you !!

Maria, you where my friend and my fellow trooper. I am honored to have known you and worked with you. Although I try hard to forget the last time I saw you, please know that I think of you often. I remember the times I spent with you and that brings a smile to me and helps overcome the loss I still feel. You are still a part of our lives!

The Family, Friends and Colleagues of Trooper Mignano,
This accident touches my heart in a very deep way. My heart and prayers go out to you. I lost my sister, Trooper Jessica J. Cheney of the Virginia State Police on January 17, 1998 as she was directing traffic and then struck by a vehicle also. Nothing can be said to make your pain go away but please know that many are thinking of you and recognize the hard work Trooper Mignano performed as an Oregon State Trooper.
When we laid my sister to rest, I remember looking up and there stood to female Oregon state troopers honoring my sister. Please know I honor Trooper Mignano in my heart as I know Jessica would have.

My deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Trooper Mignano. The International Association of Women Police salutes Trooper Mignano for the job she did for her state and our country. Though I never met her, I am sure I know the reasons that she put on her uniform everyday and went to work. The thin blue line is a little thinner with her loss but now she'll walk her beat on heaven's streets. Godspeed, Maria.
