Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Hagop Jake Kuredjian
I AM A CAR NUT AND JAKE AND I WORKED TOGETHER AT MALIBU/LOST HILLS. ONE DAY JAKE CAME IN ALL EXCITED ASKING ME TO COME OUT AND LOOK AT HIS NEW CLASSIC CAR PROJECT. I SEE JAKE IN EVERY 2ND GENERATION FORD THUNDERBIRD ,1958-1960.
WHEN MY SON WAS BORN, JAKE AND HIS PARTNER ESCORTED JUDI AND I SEVERAL MILES ACROSS THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, CODE THREE, BREAKING INTERSECTIONS AT THREE IN THE MORNING. I THINK OF HIM OFTEN, LOST TO SOON..

Jake had a smile I'll never forget. He was dedicated to deliver the best service to the citizens he served and to his fellow deputies. As a motorcycle rider I was proud to see Jake mounted squarely on his bike. Jake was that kind of guy you will always remember. God bless you Jake.

I remember that awful day and will never forget. I was one of the many involved that day, and saw the worst. Jake was a great person, and was a deputy I worked with for years. He always had a smile, and had a genuine love for the people he worked with, and the community he served. It is hard to believe 14 years have gone by.

I was a friend of Jake, we worked the same station. We went on motorcycle rides together on our Harley's. He was always full of life and loved people. I miss Jake and often remember the good times.

Jake, I think about you every year at this time and remember what an honor and privilege it was to work with you on the SCT desk. You were a wonderful person with a heart of gold. You took the time to take a single mom and her cowboy loving son to the Cowboy Poetry festival as a treat and that boy ended up becoming an LASD deputy. Thank you for being the friend that you were.

Ah, Jake: I never met you. But, I was an LASD detective assigned to review those terrible events of Aug 31, 2001. You did a good job rolling to support your fellow officers who encountered a violent suspect. That sniper, who ended your heroic life, did not really know the man you were...otherwise he would not have taken that shot. Salud, hero!! RIP.

Hey Jake-
I took a ride on my Harley the other day. I was alone so I decided to stop at a quiet spot near a lake. I lit a good cigar and suddenly thought of you. I remembered how you loved both Harley's and good cigars, and how you would often bring me a good cigar to the "jailer's desk". I remembered how helpful you always were. I also remembered how you always walked through the station with a huge smile on your face. Everytime I saw you I was always greeted with a big "Hey Brother". Over the past ten years I have often thought of you. Thank you Jake for being such a great human being.
RIP Jake.....

Jake, I will never forget your voice putting out the 997 998 that morning. It still brings tears to my eyes remembering the 999 that went out and the words of one of the units simply saying "Its Jake". You were truly a great person and an amazing Deputy. Rest in peace, your mentorship and memory will not be forgotten.

Jake,
it has been ten years since you have made the ultimate sacrifice and I would like to thank you for that. I remember I was lifting weights with my dad at the old road gym and I think one of the jails deputies put on the news, we saw the event unfold as news choppers and everyone was trying to find out the truth of what had happened, while watching I remember them stating your name and I looked at my father and watched the blood leave his face as he stood there in awe of what had just happened, He told me stories of when you two worked together, and the good times you had. he reminded me that I had met you once or twice up at pyramid lake, I have been fortunate in my life to only have known or met one deputy who has given the ultimate sacrifice. I have now completed the police academy and look forward to performing the same duties that you once did. every time that a fallen officer or deputy is brought up I remember you as one of my hero's, and from what others have said about you I wish I could have gotten to meet you a few more times. God bless you Jake, and Thank you.

Hi Jake. as the 10 year anniversary of your passing approaches, I wanted to let you know that all of us here in Malibu are thinking of you and your fellow Malibu Sheriff friends often tell me funny Jake stories, when I speak with them. I have many of my own funny stories with you, as well. You are a true hero to all of us who knew you and spent time with you here in Malibu . Living in this town is a constant reminder of you, both in your patrol car and doing your Zuma Beach patrols with a big smile on your face. I will be at your 10 year anniversary ceremony in Santa Clarita at the Park named in your honor. Some of your Malibu Sheriff deputies also plan to be there. Thank you for being a part of my life and protecting us. You are always in my prayers. We miss you! Maria Kalivas, M.A.

Jake,
I appreciate the times you let me ride in your radio car in Malibu while I was a Level II reserve there. You helped me form the decision to make law enforcement a full-time career over 20 years ago.
