Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Hagop Jake Kuredjian

Yet another brother of Law Enforcement slain for what cause? Each and everyone of us serve a purpose but to what purpose do we serve. I just lost my own brother in a gun fight, Bill Hunter. A thing like this is not to be gotten over but to be forever reflected upon, remembered and felt. I'm truly sorry for the loss of this great deputy. Your tour in hell is over, Rest in Peace. Be safe out there! Watch your 6-O'Clock! We've all got a new guardian angel watching over us!

Deputy Sheriff Kevin Hunter
Plumas County Sheriff's Office

Our hearts bleed to hear of another brother fallen. But we can stand proud to be able to say that HE IS OUR BROTHER. I just hope that his family knows how much love and support from around the world they have.

The Badge

It is polished and shiny and looks so fine.
Once you earn it you have to tow the line.
The minute you wear it upon your chest
it becomes a symbol that you are the best.
It means honesty, integrity, and fairness to all.
Your life is never your own, but at the publics call.
Night or day, any hour, it makes you a mark.
It doesn't protect you from a shot in the dark.
Over the years the shine starts to fade,
but brighter still is the man its made.
It is often what seperates you from the crowd.
It is a second family of which you are proud.
So now comes your time, you can't be denied.
When you pin on your badge, wear it with pride
The minute you wear it upon your chest
it becomes a symbol that you are the best.

It saddens me each time I hear an officer anywhere has fallen. Yet, it hits more closely to home at times like these. For each time I hear the officer was with LASD, I fear it may be one of my close friends with that agency. Rest in peace partner...your watch is over and you have gone home. Strength be with all who knew and loved you...

I am sorry to hear that a once fellow brother,,decided to kill another brother in blue. It is a shame that we lose so many officers in the line of duty,,,But once again I belive heaven just needed another good deputy to walk the streets of heavens beat...May the lord be with you in your journey to a far more better place Deputy Kuredjian

"Last Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The Policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a Saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
but if you don't...I'll understand
There was silence all around the throne
Where the Saints had often trod
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

I was sadden to hear of this incident, as I followed the news coverage all day, hoping to hear that this brave deputy would pull through. As I'm sure we all are even more saddened that he did not. I shall pray for him and his family.

"A Part of America Died"

Somebody killed a policeman today,
and a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
will be buried with him at his side.

The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
and spend many long, lonely nights.

The beat that he walked was a battle field too,
just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
to his name they will add a gold star.

Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
a cop put his life on the line.

Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
and he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call, of himself gave his all,
and a part of America died.

I have only been with the LA County Sheriff's Department for eight months, and we have lost two deputies during that time. Thank you for the service and message that you have provided me. Unfortunately, the lessons learned come at such a price, but your sacrifice will remind me daily of how dangerous and important our job is. We never even met, but we are from the same family and I will keep you in my heart for the rest of my life.

I am so hurt to hear another hero is gone, the kind that stands up for what is right and who makes a difference in this screwed up world of ours, as I type this I am also crying because I am remembering what it was like 3 days ago to attend a policemans funeral and to see their family,co-workers and community mourn his death, some knew him, most did not, but ALL felt the pain of another lost HERO. God bless all around you, Thank you for being there to answer the radio,Pap
