Reflections for Police Officer Eric D. Lee

I wish I could go back six years ago today and tell you to go on the medical. I wish I could tell you to let those guys fight it out, they're grown men. I wish I could've taken you to lunch at about 2100 hrs six years ago.
I wish, as you lay on the hospital bed, that it was all a bad dream and that you would soon wake up. I wish that all of us in Chicago blue could've absorbed a bit a your pain that night. I wish for Shawn and Erica to be embraced by family members left behind. You have touched many lives Eric; may you always rest in God's grace and watch over us.

06 years have passed since your brutal murder. May your family be comforted by the fact that you will FOREVER be a hero and will NEVER be forgotten! Until one day in Heaven we meet, keep walking your beat on the Golden Street keeping an eye on the thin blue line.

My thoughts are with all of your loved ones today on this 6th anniversary of your EOW. Some will say it seems just like yesterday but others will say that it feels like a lifetime ago when they last heard you talk, laugh or were able to hold you and feel your warm touch. You are thought of each and every day and will never be forgotten. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones, protect them from harm. You have not been forgotten.

Officer Lee,
Today is the sixth anniversary since you were called home. My thoughts are with your family and friends as they remember the wonderful person you were. You exemplified the meaning of serving with courage. You indeed DID make a difference for so many people.

Eric, this may sound silly, but you would appreciate it: one of my fondest memories of 731 (you and Dre) was going to Leon's for our food and then driving to the Kennedy-King parking lot to have our lunch at midnight.

I think of you often and every time I play baseball with my son, Eric, I think of the times you would tell me of how you enjoyed driving Erica to school and soccer practice.

You left a void in a lot of lives, but we are richer for knowing you.

Hi Eric,

I haven't typed here in a while but I speak to you every day! I know that you're smiling and that you see all that our angel is accomplishing. This is one of the proudest times right now and I'm so thankful for the time we shared together as a family. Keep watching over us and I pray that all the hard work and dedication you poured into our little lady will continue to prevail.

Love you much

Officer Lee,
After reading your memorial it makes me proud to wear the badge. You were obviously unselfish and truely believed in the Protect and Serve motto. You, sir, are a true HERO, and will never be forgotten. To your family, even though I did not personally know Eric, although I wish I had, I promise to strive to be the best officer I can be, just like I know Eric was. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Rest in Peace Brother in Blue.

Hey Eric,

Happy Belated Birthday.

I remembered it - just got busy. Time is really going by fast. You should see Miss E. She is such the lady now. How I wish you could have seen her grow up. I see Shawn stops by often to visit you. I will give her a kiss for you next time I see her.

We will never forget you.

Sweetie,

The ribbon cutting ceremony finally arrived and Gold Star Family Memorial and Park is breath taking! I was so proud to see your name as well as all the fallen officers engraved on the wall! Yes, it's like DC's Memorial but better...it is so classy.

There will be no better place to come and reflect, it's so peaceful!

I'm so proud of you and love you much!

Yes, mom and pops were there too!

Love ya,

Eric,

It would be 13 years on 9-11-06! I miss you so much...God broke the mold with you Sweetie for sure! Rest and keep watching over us always! I love you and thank God for you each and every day.

I visit you every day here and it always get's me so full to read all the beautiful and wonderful things people tell about your life...the work life I didn't fully understand but with your true friends, I get a better understanding daily.

You have two only sons named after you...that is amazing and such a blessing.

Love you much,

Eric,

five years later I still think of that awful Sunday night, but remember all our conversations on first watch on 731 and smile about all the fun we had working. You and Andre were my first partners and I'll never forget you. I'm not in Chicago anymore, but you are always with me. I miss you bro. By the way, I named my only son after you.

Thank you for your service.

To the family and loved ones of Officer Eric D. Lee and his fellow officers with the Chicago Police Department:

On this the fifth anniversary of Eric's tragic death, I wanted to honor and remember him today. Eric's professionalism and dedication will never be forgotten, nor will his valor and courage.

I also salute his patriotism to our country through his service in the Corps. My beloved son Larry Lasater is his brother in green as well as in blue and I know all those Marines have things squared away.

In reading the loving reflections left by his family, friends and co-workers I can see that he was very well respected and is sorely missed. The devotion his wife expresses is also to be admired. I hope that God is holding him in the sweetest part of his heart and the most gentle part of his soul.

I am so sorry that Eric was robbed of his life so tragically, but through his heroism and the profound sense of duty with which he lived his life, he made an immeasurable difference. May his spirit continue to soar and may his memory continue to inspire.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Eric gave to his community and the citizens of Illinois, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on August 19, 2001.
