The community of Rockford, Ill., are amazingly great to express this much love and concern for a fallen officer. This is a beautiful way to be remembered and an encouraging affect on others all over. I've read so many reflection's it's understandable that he left a lot of good results behind, but at the same time they have been placed in the book of heaven. The dedication, the support and the love he shared with so many, he left to always be remembered. He had to be a good man because he was determined to pave his way in the right direction. He wasn't a hero, he was an Angel. I believe some of us are born into this world as Angels to do God's will and he was that. He put his life in front of evil to bring some good to the Community. Remember, God's will is not to end in evil but to bring good out of it.

Kevin Rice, thank you for your service to the City of Rockford. Your stories that I shared with your brother (Elmer Rice) are the main reasons I joined the Thin Blue Line. Your never forgotten brother.

Thank you Kevin Rice for your service and sacrifice. That being said, I find it disgracefu that a judge or jury gave his killer a 60 year sentence rather than Life Without the Possibility of Parole. Even if he serves the entire sentence there is the chance that he could be alive at age 80 and end up living free for a few years. If he is paroled years earlier, he could even live several more years comfortably. He never should have been out so soon after the first murder.

It is hard to believe almost 10 years have gone by. You are still remembered for the hero that you were not just because of the way that you died, but because of the way that you lived, giving to the community every day. You are missed.

I saw the story on their case yesterday in the Swiss-German TV. Your friends of the Rockfort Police Dep. have really done a very good job to explain this horrendous case.
I will include her and her family in my prayers.

Det. Rice,
I'm a night shift nurse and I was just watching an old episode of "Forensic Files" and saw your story. I was moved my the love that was shared by your family and friends. As I come to look to see if your name was on this website, I was hoping to find it and glad that I did. Although you weren't "on duty" technically, you were a true detective and instictively went into "cop mode." I know about this, as my father was shot and killed a few years after you, also "off-duty" yet always in "cop mode" and I'm thankful he was memorialized here too. But, being the fine officers you both were, I'm sure you've met by now, still on patrol, only now the streets are gold and there is no crime or danger. Continue to watch over the thin blue line down here and we'll meet in a little while on the other side. God bless your family and all those who love you.
With utmost respect and appreciation I leave this reflection. Thank you for a job well done.

Kevin, as have so many others, I too, just saw your documentary on forensic files. You were such a quality individual, personally and professionally. Your family and friends love you so much . . . so much, the love is beyond describing in words. Thank you for your service, for your unusual care for your community, family and fellow officers.
There is a very special place in Heaven for you Kevin, because you are so special. Rest easy brother. With brotherly love and utmost respect, Jim Crotty (former Richmond, VA Police Officer).

PS To all my brother and sisters, I have read in some of the reflections where well intended people have written that Kevin "gave" his life for his community. He did not. His life was TAKEN from him, and us, by evil. Warriors do not "give" their lives to anyone or any thing . . . if our life is to end, we won't go gently into that night . . thank you.
