The extreme heat of the past few days has taken a toll on people everywhere. Rest in Peace, Det. Taylor. Everyone, be careful out there, especially when working in extreme conditions. Stay Safe.
Darin L. Paul, Special Agent
FBI
For 5 weeks we worked side by side at HDS. In that time, we became friends as well as co-workers. The world is darker today because of your loss, but your memory remains. Rest well and stay safe my brother.
Fire Marshal R. Lee Ware, Jr.
Newport News Fire Department
A technologic genius, a communication wizard, an operational superman - all these terms accurately describe my friend Dave. I had the great pleasure of working with him as an assistant at the local auditorium in the tech department, and I owe all that I know in technologic investigations to him. I will miss his smile and friendship but know that he will live eternally through those that he touched during his short life.
Lt. Tim Sells
Thomasville Police (Retired); Davidson Co. Sheriff's Office
You are not forgotten! We will continue to do the job in your honor and in memory of you and all who laid down their lives so that we could live in a civilized society. We are stronger because of you. Rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to Detective Taylor's family. All of us will keep them in our prayers. He has gone where we will go one day, knowing he did his best! God Bless.
SGT Jason Tyson
Wilmington Police Department
I was Dave's "Mother" for five weeks at the FBI Hazardous Devices School(HDS) where we trained to become certified bomb technicians in late 2000.
On behalf of HDS class B-2-01 I would like to extend our deepest symapthies to the family, friends, and co-workers of Det. Taylor.
Dave was very well liked and respected during our training rotation. I must also add that Dave embarrassed us all with his extensive electronics knowledge. We liked him just the same...The world is a darker place today.

Two months ago to the day Detective David L. Taylor died I lost a good friend of mine Joey Cushman of the Arlington Police Department. We had only known each other for almost 3 years but it seemed like I had known him forever. I know how the friends of Taylors are feeling now and I can't even imagine what the family is going through. I just give my thoughts and prayers to you while y'all work through this rough time.
MM
I pray for the family and friends of David, I pray that they feel comfort in this time of loss. I hope they know that he is safe in heaven. I pray that they feel comfort from God. Hope they feel his presence through signs of him, after a great friend a brother Corporal Joey Cushman
was killed I saw many signs of his presence here, and I hope they will too. Comforting of Love to all.
