Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Joseph Dan Adams

You have not been forgotten. Continue to keep watch over all of your loved ones and close friends.

Today marks the ninth anniversary since you made the ultimate sacrifice for your fellow man. I can only speak for myself but time has done little to numb the loss of a good friend, taken from those closest to him far too soon. Maybe one day the sting will no longer be, but maybe it isn't meant to leave those that serve the public in uniform, maybe we need that sting to remind us of the dangerous realities of our chosen careers. We need to feel the sting of those lost from our ranks to keep us dilligent in our duties and our safety. I REMEMBER, I will never forget you nor your sacrifice.

Joe...as I read these comments when I'm thinking and praying for you and your family and friends...I am still so amazed at how treasured you are! Your story continues to effect others...man I wish I could have met you before all of this...I have to wait until I'm in heaven to get the pleasure of meeting you. You have FOREVER changed my life in amazing ways...I am now a follower of Christ because of you and your incredible family! Your loss will never be in vain! My our Lord continue to move mountains! I am so sorry I haven't been strong enough until now to finally leave a comment. God continue to bless you, your family and your friends...

It has been just over eight years since your passing. Much time has passed and it has been said that time is a great healer, but regardless of how much time passes I don't believe that the sting of losing a friend will ever fade. I miss you and am grateful to have known you and to be able to call you a friend. I cannot speak for others but for me and my familiy you will never be forgotten.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the eighth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Another year has passed and today we reflect once again upon Joe's life and service. We feel so blessed to have had him with us for the short 26 years that we did. Life somehow continues on, and we hold ever dear the memories we have of him. He has had his older brother join him in heaven this past year, so we feel that they are together and this gives us comfort.
We express, as a family, our appreciation to all who protect and serve us in the Law Enforcement Profession. We understand the risk you take each time you report on duty and we pray for your safety. God bless all of you.

Officer Adams served proudly and was deeply loved and respected by those who knew him. It is a tragedy to lose him. We never know when our lives on this earth will end, but we can make a reservation in Heaven now and assure us a place when God calls us to Himself. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6) and He PAID the price for our sins on the Cross so we don't have to pay the penalty for our sins. Yipee! If we accept His payment by faith we can have salvation and spend eternity with Him in Heaven. It is not something we must earn, it is a gift. The most precious one we can ever receive. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith_and this not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God_not by good deeds, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2: 8,9. For without faith, it is impossible to please God. And our faith must be in God's only Son, Jesus Christ.
You were a credit to the uniform, Officer Adams. My heart goes out to your
loved ones left behind and may the Lord comfort them as only He can.

It's been seven years now since you were taken from us Joe and I miss you so much. So much has changed and it is hard not having you here. I am so thankful for the example you set for me both as an officer and father. You will never be forgotten brother. I love you.

Seven years have passed since that tragic night. It is hard to believe that it has been that long, yet in other ways it is so long ago that we were getting drinks and laughing on patrol. Time has done much to ease the pain of losing a friend, but it cannot fully heal the sting that many of us feel on days like this, and each time we pass by your memorial, or enter the public safety building aptly named in your honor. I don't know what you are doing this day Joe, but I hope you know this, you are missed and you will never be forgotten, no amount of time will ever change that.
