Reflections for Sergeant Joseph Dan Adams
May God bless this officer's family, friends, and co workers in their time of grief and unexplained loss. May He somehow lesson the pain and may this officer's son grow up knowing that his father was a true and brave man.
Richard B. Hill, former deputy sheriff
Polk County Sheriff's Office, Florida
JOE,
WE'RE ALL GOING TO MISS YOU SO MUCH. NIGHTSHIFTS WILL SEEM SO EMPTY WITHOUT YOU THERE. I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU TOOK TO ME AND MADE ME YOUR FRIEND, BUT I'M GLAD YOU DID. YOU MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE FOR US ALL. YOUR FAMILY DID TOO. MAYBE YOU SAVED A FEW OF US THOUGH, BECAUSE WE NOW KNOW THAT "THE WORST CAN HAPPEN TO "THE BEST."" MAYBE WE NOW WILL APPLY SOME OF THE PRINCIPLES OF OFFICER SAFETY THAT YOU ALWAYS DISPLAYED.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP-NEVER FORGOTTON.

DEPUTY JAMES BINGHAM

Officer Joe Adams was my best friend, partner, and brother. Joe made the ultimate sacrifice so that I and all of his brothers and sisters could return safely home with our families. Joe showed the loyalty and courage I knew he always had. Even though he received a fatal wound to the heart he was able to return fire nine times. Joe went down as we all knew he would....fighting for what he believed in.

Officer Joe Adams was my husbands best friend and brother. His family was our good friends and we love and cherish them. Joe was the best officer Lehi could have ever hoped to have and he will never be replaced. I knew each night that my husband went out that if Joe was there, my husband was going to come home. The scriptures say, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" St. John 15:13. That is the type of friend that Joe was and that is exactly what he did. He layed down his life for his family, his friends and his community. He will be greatly missed, and he and his family are always loved.

This morning when I heard of this terrible act of selfishness I wept….again. My father was taken 3 weeks ago in the way, by the same type of demon. I am the same age officer Adams and feel deep remorse because his son will not have a father to teach him, but that doesn’t mean he won’t have his father to watch over him. I’m sure God allows fathers and grandfathers to watch over their children and grandchildren. I have felt my own father’s presence as I go through this most horrible of earthly pains. I have also felt God’s loving hand in my life more pronounced these past few weeks. God bless officer Adam's family in this most trying of all times.

Joe, you were our brother always. I am so proud to have known you and privileged to have worked beside. You helped me through some tough calls, and I thank you for that. I love you like a brother, and I will miss you forever. You will never know how much you were loved and respected and how you brought everyone else's standards higher by your example.
To those who have supported Joe's family and his co-workers, THANK YOU. There are no words that can be said that can take the hurt away, but the knowledge that you are all grieving with us makes it a little easier.
God Speed Joe, you were and always will be the best. None of us will ever be alone in our patrol cars, we now have the best partner we could ask for, guarding us from above.
Thank you Joe

Rest In Peace. A drunk driving arrest turns into murder. It would seem to me that the lesser of the two evils is to get arrested for DUI and carrying a weapon rather than the murder of a police officer. Senseless!

I have been where you fear to be
I have seen what you fear to see
I have done what you fear to do
All these things, I have done for
you.
I am the man you lean upon
The man you cast your scorn upon
The man you bring your troubles to
All of these men I've been to you.
The man you ask to stand apart
The man you feel should have no heart
The man you call "the man in blue"
But I'm just a man, just like you.
And through the years I've come to
see
That I'm not what you ask of me
So take this badge and take this gun
Will you take it?...Will anyone?
And when you watch a person die
And hear a battered child cry
Then do you think that you can be
All these things you ask of me?

Joe Adams:
I don't consider myself to be a close friend of Joe, but more of an aquiantance. I attended a law enforcement training course with him less than six months ago. During the course several of us would get together at lunch to exchange war stories and a few laughs. Joe was a regular in our group and always good for a few stories. As I heard the news of a fallen officer from Lehi, Utah. I thought to myself I know an officer from Lehi. Later that day while watching the local news I learned that Joe was the officer. I can not describe the feeling of sadness I felt at that moment. All I could say was that's a friend of mine. Joe I now know what the common bond shared between fellow officers is. Thank you for serving our profession with such pride and honor. My deepest and most sincere condolences go out to your family. You will be in our prayers my friend.

Im sorry to hear about Joe Adams. Domestic calls and Traffic Stops are where we are losing all our good officers. People don't have much respect for a police officer any more. If the guy lives that Shot Joe' he'll spend the rest of his life behind bars for being real stupid. He'll never suffer like Joes wife and family are suffering right now. I know this feeling and it isn't pleasant.Pray for Joes family and friends to get thru this terrible ordeal. Kenny
