Reflections for Sergeant Joseph Dan Adams

NOW AT LONG LAST YOUR TOUR IN HELL IS OVER.
NOW AT LAST THERE IS PEACE FOR ANOTHER PEACEMAKER.
WE MOURN OUR LOSS OF LOOSING YOU.
BUT WE, A PROUD NATION OF PEOPLE YOU HAVE NEVER KNOWN, REJOICE IN THE THOUGHT THAT YOU ARE ENJOYING YOUR TIME AS AN ANGEL WITH BLUE WINGS. REST IN PEACE OFFICER ADAMS

Volunteer R. Butler
Knoxville Police Department

All of us within the Chaves County Sheriff's Department wish to express our condolences and deepest sympathy in the death of Officer Joseph Adams.

Whether it is in the line of duty or from other causes, the death of an officer, friend and loved one is not easy to accept. I hope that knowing that your department and the family of your officer will be remembered in our prayers will be of some comfort in the days to follow.

Sheriff Patrick R. Jennings
Chaves County Sheriff's Dept

I never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face

"In the line of duty" I hear them say
My family now the price will pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years

The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind

I never dreamed it would be me
And with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God, let my name be the last

Three short years in uniform! Not quite enough time to leave an impact on the lives that you touched every day both in the law enforcement community and the citizens that you served, but After serving for more that 25 years in uniform I'm not sure if I know anyone who made more of an impact than you did in such a short time. I didn't work the street with you but did respond to fires and medical calls. I always knew that the scene was safe as we arrived and wouldn't need to worry about anything that would put us in harms way when you were there. I'll remember the times at Harts and all the other places that we met to joke around. Most of all I'll remember the night you left us. Sorry we couldn't do more for you. I know that you are in God's hands and our prayers are with your wife and son. God Speed

I have read your reflections and tears were rolling down my face. You are a true hero, and by the sounds of it you are an outstanding police officer. You went down fighting until the end, and I'm sure you saved many lives while you were doing what you did. Officer Adams, and family, be proud of yourselves!! Stay strong and remember that this is a family, from Utah to Virginia, across the nation. We feel the pain whenever one of our brothers and sisters fall!!!
People need to realize that we are not robots, that we are people too, and have families. Officer Adams set the example.
This was indeed a senseless act, and hope the suspect pays DEARLY!!!!!
I will pay my respects to Officer Joseph Adams and his family as I participate in the Police Unity Tour next year for the National Law Enforcement Memorial.
God Bless Mrs. Adams and their son!

Off. Jeff Whitson
Portsmouth, Va. P.D.

You are not forgotten! We will continue to do the job in your honor and in memory of you and all who laid down their lives so that we could live in a civilized society. We are stronger because of you. Rest in peace.

Such a senseless waste of a precious life. My heart felt sympathy to Officer Adams wife and child. He will always be with you.

Constable L.Buck

Someone killed a policeman today,
and a part of our country died.
A piece of our country, he swore to protect,
will be buried with him at his side.
The beat he patrolled was a battlefield too,
just as if he had gone to war.
Though the flag of our country won't fly at half mast,
to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, someone killed a policeman today,
maybe in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his spirit patrols his beat on a dark country street,
and he stands at each new rookie's side,
He answered the call, of himself he gave all,
and part of our country died

A Poem in Memory of our Fallen Hero...Joseph D. Adams

Our Promise

On the day we married
I made that one promise to you
You made that one promise to me
That we would be together
For all eternity

My Dear
I have not broken that promise
That I made to you on our special day
It just so happens that there on earth
With you My Dear
I cannot stay.

I will always be with you
I am not that far away
I am in your heart, your touch and your lovely laugh
I will forever remain
In your memories
That is where I will always stay!

I know that this is hard for you
It is hard for me too
But I know that we can go on
We will in the memory of
Me and You!

As for our son
Our little precious one
I am sure that you will know what to do
I know that you will love him enough
For both You and Me times two!

My Dear I must go now
But before I do
I have just one last request
That I ask of you

When our son asks
Just where I am?
Please tell him this
To try to help him understand...

"You Daddy is up there in the sky so blue.
He is our Hero, so Brave, so Stong, so True!
You see my son for awhile he has to leave
But before he did
He made a promise to you and me
That we would be a family
For all Eternity!"

He may not understand just yet
but as he grows
He will figure out what you meant
Whenever he may ask
Just where I am
When you tell him this
You will both know that
I am beside you holding your hand

The one wish I leave for you and our son
Is the words that I hope that
I could someday hear
For which I would have been so glad
Someday I hope that you will hear our son say...
"This is my Hero, My Father, My DAD!!!

Joe,
Words cannot express the sorrow felt by those of us who were close to you. How I wish I could have been there for you, in that tragic moment, now frozen in time, and lost forever. I will always treasure the moments we spent together not only at work, but as friends, especially those quiet time's that were spent in silence. I will never forget your smile, nor your laugh, nor the way you spoke of your wife and son. You will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. God speed.

Officer Brian J. Gwilliam
Alpine/Highland Police

Joe,

You were a brother to all those who worked side by side with you every day. Even though your physical presence is no longer here, I know you will still be with us every day in spirit. You will be encourging us in spirit, just as you did when you you walked with us. I know you will be there whenever we face a tough time in our lives. I am thankful that I was allowed to be a friend as well as a coworker of yours. You will forever be in my heart. I am but one of many people that will miss you deeply. I am humbled by all that you have accomplished with your life. Joe, you are an inspiration to me. My only regret is that I was not able to tell you face to face. Please know that from the bottom of my heart, I will always consider you to be a brother and a friend.

Love always,

Brian

As a father of a young son (15 months old), it saddens me without end to know that Officer Adams will never hear his child speak, or see his child walk. A scumbag, waste of human life takes away the life of a great person, from what I hear, a great cop, and a young father. May God bless the family of Officer Adams, and help them through this time of senseless tragedy.

Officer 1st Class Paul Hoke
Baltimore County Police Department

I'm not a law enforcement officer, but I feel for the family and community of Lehi. I am a recent new father and I pray for Joe's wife and son. I will pray for their well being and their recovery. Officer Adams died protecting my rights to live in this great state and community. I am for ever grateful for what he and all other officers do on a daily bases. Thank you Joe Adams for your commitment and your loyalty and your willingness to do what so many other won't. May God bless your wife and child. May your son grow to know the great man that you are. May you be in God's arms forever.

Joe,

I am proud to say that I served with you and called you my friend. Your dedication to your family and profession did not go unnoticed by anyone. Thank you for being an example to me. I also thank you for the countless times you backed me on calls, no matter what situation I was in, I knew I could count on you to be by my side. Joe, I have deep respect and honor for you. You gave your life in the service of others.
I hope I am worthy enough when my time on earth is finished to have you welcome me back home.
I will miss you!

Your Brother,

Officer Sean Ferrell Lehi Police Department.

To the family of Officer Adams,

Always remember the life which Joe lived and the reason he chose this dangerous work. He cared for the life of others and despised victimization. Also remember that you are not mourning alone.

We miss you buddy. More than anything I wish that I could talk with you again and have you share your enthusiasm and professionalism with those of us that used you for inspiration. You will be sorely missed, I know that I will never be the same, nor will our department. You are the greatest, I will never forget the times together, and the way you could take a complex situation and make it seem like is was tailored to suit you personally. I know you are handling much more important calls right now, and I know He has the best man for the job, regardless of the situation. We miss you. I miss you. You will not be forgotten.

Sgt. James W. Munson

To Officer Adam's Baby Girl,
I cannot fully relate because I was blessed to have my Father much longer than did you. I only know that there will be many days in your future that you don't care your father died a hero, only that he died. But because of his great service and love for others, you will have many opportunities to learn from him and about him. He will not be forgotten. Know that he loves you and that he did not want to leave you so soon. I am sure Heavenly Father would have allowed him to stay if He did not have other very important plans for all of you. He will forever be watching over you and your mother from above. From one Fallen Officer's little girl, to another's. May God please be with us all.
