Janice, Ryan, Dustin; Dan was extremely well thought of & a mentor to many people. There is several times that I think of him. You should all be proud. He will never be forgotten & I still remember where I was when I found out. I was just thinking here recently of the day that it happened.

A lesser man would have given up. You were a sheepdog right up until the end, protecting your son even though you were mortally wounded.
As a father and a police officer myself, you are a example of what each and every father or police officer should strive to be.

Dan, You are remembered, your are loved and you are never forgotten. You were more than an excellent police officer, you were a great man, husband, dad, and son. As my brother Randy often reminds me, he loved you as a brother in law and asked that we always remember that you were a great brother in law to him. We all miss you.
As we await a decision in the next step of the court system, you are dear and close to my heart. Always in my soul. Loved, missed, and remembered.
Love you,
Janice

Dan-your sacrifice will never be forgotten. I think about you often. We had some good laughs together. You raised good boys and taught them right. Dustin stopped by mom's house not long ago because something didn't look right and wanted to check on her. Her car was in the barn and the door was open. I am glad to know that he is in the neighborhood. I know that you are watching down on all of us. You are a true hero and I am so proud to say that you were my friend! Rest easy my friend, we got this!

10 Years ago today our lives were changed forever when you and Ryan were shot. I can't believe it's been 10 years, yet it seems longer at times....decades away from when I saw you last..
Dan your sacrifice will never be forgotten. You served with pride for your community, and for the sheriff's department. Above that, you were a wonderful family man - a near perfect husband and dad - I will love you always. You - the man you were - will never be forgotten. You were more than a police officer, much more. You were my husband for 25 1/2 years and a dad to our sons. You will always be remembered for the family man you were, and by your fellow officers and community for the officer you were.
You will be loved and remembered always.

I recently met your wife at a training class where she shared her story as a survivor. She is one of the most bravest and strongest persons I've ever had the privilege of meeting. I'm sure she and your sons make you very proud as they continue your fight. After hearing her story and speaking with her personally I felt compelled to leave this reflection.
You are a warrior and hero and I thank you for your sacrifice.
