Reflections for Master Sergeant Stanley W. Talbot

I am a recruit in class 480-05 and admire your courage and what you did for law enforcement. You will be missed and I hope your legacy in which your daughter carries is as distinguished as yours. I have had the opportunity to be here at ISPA and she has shown me how to overcome adversity just by her presence. You would be proud.

Thanks for being a great shift commander and friend

Master Sergeant Stanley W. Talbot holds a special place in our hearts and memories as we gratefully remember his 26 years of answering the call to "serve and protect" his community. He stood as our "shield" in preserving our peace and safety at all cost. Many of the Peace Officer & First Responder Prayer Partners are from the law enforcement and first responder families. His loss is felt deeply and our tears are genuine. Our prayers are sent to his fellow officers and to his wonderful family. We pray for their healing and join in their anticipation of one day seeing him again in God's glorious kingdom. May these words encourage and give peace:
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
"God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God." Matthew 5:9 (NLT)
God bless each of you as you walk God's "beat." You are most special and appreciated and you remain in our prayers.

To the family of MS Talbot, our hearts ache with yours, our eyes cry with yours, may god bless you, and I am very very sorry for your loss.

There is no possible way to describe the tragedy suffered.I can only extend my heartfelt grief to Master Seargent Talbot's family and Co-Workers.Though I never had the pleasure of knowing him,a little piece of us all passes away whenever one of us does.Good luck and God bless.

On May 22, 2001 I attended a Mothers Against Drunk Driving banquet where recognition was given to area officers. M/Sgt. Talbot received special recognition from MADD. During that presentation, MADD read a letter from District 7 commander stating that M/Sgt. Talbot often volunteered to work roadside safety checks and had shown superior dedication to the fight against drunk driving. M/Sgt. Talbot is a true hero who gave the ultimate sacrafice while trying to fight drunk driving and other related offenses at a roadside safety check. The driver will be caught Stan, we will search the ends of the earth for him.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends of Msgt Talbot and the Illinois State Police. It's sad to hear of such a needless death of another member of our family and a true hero.
God bless you Master Sergeant W. Talbot.

Sgt.Talbot is a hero in everyones eyes. He served his community faithfully as a law enforcement officer for over 20 years and helped a lot of people. He was obviously a very brave man to be in law enforcement. It is a very difficult thing to get thru losing a loved one, only with Gods peace and knowing he is in a far better place now, and time will help heal the deepest of the wound.

Sgt.Talbots heroism will never be forgotten and shouldnt be.

"A Police Officer's Prayer"

When I am needed for duty God,
and someone has to call,
give me strength to save a life,
or soften someone's fall.

If neighbours need a helping hand
or just a friendly pat,
fill my heart with love—
so I can give them that.

God, stay by my side
with your holy light
and guide my footsteps so that
I may do all things right.

I want to fill my calling
and give the best in me,
to guard my every neighbour
and protect his property.

At the end of each day
let me look back and find,
that I fulfilled my job proudly
with a satisfied mind.

And if, according to my fate,
I am to lose my life;
please bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife.

Stan was one of the nicest, fairest, caring men you'd ever meet. I grew up around Stan and the other Troopers my dad worked with. Stan will can and never will be replaced.

I was saddened to hear about your loss. I heard about it this morning from a police officer friend of mine. Nothing I can say or do will bring him back. But please know that others feel for you and will play their part in ensuring that offenders like the one who took Stan's life away will not get away with it.

I cannot believe the horrible news I just read. It's been many, many years since I worked with Sgt Talbot at District 5 but I still remember his ID #1989 and car number was an unmarked green 5-70.
My prayers are with the the family and all the police everywhere. I also pray the murderer is captured and someday people realize the ultimate sacrifice police everywhere make for them.
God bless you all.
