Reflections for Police Officer Charles Leon McDonald

Mac,
Thank you for being one of those people that made me look forward to coming to work. I always considered you a good friend and please be with me always. I will always remember our times together. Thank you for everything.

To the Family and Friends of "Big Charles",

Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time in your lives. We both believe in angels - and know that Charles is now an angel looking over you all - you know he's there, you can feel him walk by or smell that special smell, or hear him whisper in your ear....he will always be with you in your heart and your soul.

THIS LETTER IS TO EXPRESS THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SENT THEIR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS TO MY FAMILY REGARDING THE LOSS OF OUR BELOVED BIG CHARLES.
HE HAD MANY NAMES,WORE MANY HATS THROUGH HIS SHORT LIFE BUT NONE WERE MORE IMPORTANT THAN "DAD".FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS HE HAS HELPED MY SISTER RAISE HER THREE BOYS ALONG WITH RAISING HIS OWN SON IN A HOUSE THEY SHARED TOGETHER.HIS PRESENCE IN THAT HOUSE MADE THAT HOUSE A HOME.IT WAS FINALLY COMPLETE.WE WERE BLESSED TO CALL BIG CHARLES FAMILY.NOT ONLY BLESSED WE WERE HONORED.
NOW OUR BIG CHARLES IS GONE AND WE ALL HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE THROUGH DAY BY DAY I BELIEVE IT WAS SAID BY BIG CHARLES' 16 YEAR OLD STEP-SON "BIG CHARLES WOULD NOT WANT US SITTING AROUND MOPEING" HE WAS RIGHT, BUT ITS HARD TO ACCEPT SUCH A GOOD MAN,GREAT DAD AND THE BEST FRIEND YOU COULD EVER HAVE KNOWN COULD NOT HAVE STAYED A LITTLE LONGER HERE ON EARTH TO MAKE EARTH A BETTER PLACE TO BE.IN THE PAST MONTH AND A HALF THE QUESTION OF "WHY" HAS BEEN ASKED MANY TIMES TO THE LORD ABOVE.I KNOW I NEED TO STOP AN REPLACE MY BELIEF IN HIS DECISIONS AND TRUST HE HAS A BETTER PLAN FOR BIG CHARLES IN HEAVEN.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO SEND YOUR PRAYERS TO MY FAMILY. KNOW THAT THEY ARE NEEDED TO HELP US HEAL OUR BROKEN HEARTS.
THANK YOU AGAIN,
ELISHA

I have been good friends with Charles for 30 years.
I will miss all the great stories Charles told.

Darryl said it best at the funeral; if you miss his smile look at his mother, if you miss his stories listen to my Dad he tells the same stories, if you miss is competitivness look at his son.

God Bless Little Charles, his brothers and their families and Laura.

We miss and love you!

Rest in Peace Charles.

Even though I'd only met Charles a few times in person, but I'd talked to him on the radio a couple hundred times. We'll all miss his easy going attitude. May GOD bless his family & friends.

Officer Macdonald assisted my family numerous times with problems dealing with my two sons. He was a tremendous help and inspiration and we greatly appreciate his kindness and professionalism. Our sympathy and prayers go out to the Forest Park Police Department and his family and friends.

To the son of Officer Charles McDonald,
I know this is very hard for you and your mom. Harder than any of us can even imagine. You had a dad that you can be very proud of! You can hold your head up high and know that you are part of that very special man. He is in God's hands now and you can turn to God for anything you need. I know you will grow up to be strong in character and strong from this very hard experience you are having to go through right now. Take good care of your mom, she needs you now more than ever. Remember, turn to God always and you will have all that you ever need. My sympathy and prayers goes out to you and your mom. May God give you both peace.
