I did not know Trooper Cottle, but we all share many things, the academy, going to work at all hours, and facing all kinds of danger for the betterment of the people in the state of Texas. I wish his family the best in coping with this horrible tragedy, and I urge them to remeber that in the Department, we are a big family, and they should call on us when they need.

Trooper Cottle, your watch is over and our department salutes you and your tour. May you watch over the gates of heaven, as you watched over the citizens of Texas.

Deputy J. Allen
Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department, Texas

What a tragedy, this brave trooper losing his life in such a terrible way, he served the people of Texas with great courage, we should never forget the lives this man touched, nor the criminals he protected us from in his career. Nobody understands why these things happen, all that can be said, he did his job well, was loved by those he was close to, and never wavered in his duties to the job....

Trooper Cottle, be at peace, a long shift has ended, and with it, many many great memories, but you will never be forgotten, not ever...Thank You Sir!

Scott Parker
Former Deputy Constable, Harris County Texas
