I remember Jimmy since we were about three feet tall or so. We went to Our Lady of Fatima school and church together where we both served as alter boys for many years. I lost track of him for a while because he was one or two grades ahead of me. Then I ran into him and his new lovely wife at the Stardust Lounge where we sat in the back pool room and talked for a few hours. He was telling me out Slippery Rock University where he had just graduated from. He had a better way with conversation than I do. He was always a friendly stand up guy and I never heard a bad word spoken of him ever over the course of our lives, something that is rare today. It was the only time I came home for the holidays for a few years. The next time I heard his name was when a mutual friend that went to high school with him called and told me to turn on WPXI and I did. It was a very sad and somber day for the Greater Pittsburgh Area and especially Hopewell, Moon and Aliquippa. I will always remember Jimmy as this eight or nine year old who was nice to me when the kids in my grade were all picking on me for standing up for a younger kid. He and Mike Moutzie (spelling could be wrong) were two of the older kids who befriended me when I needed it. I think I served his Confirmation Class's Mass if I remember correctly. A bishop from Mississippi traveled to Pittsburgh to perform the mass. It was either that or he served the mass with me. That was a long time ago to remember. My closing thought is this Jimmy always was a nice guy with something interesting to say who genuinely cared about other people. He is missed.

Jim was a friend and classmate at Geneva College (DCP-140). It is hard to believe is has been 18 years since he was taken away from his family, friends, fellow officers, and community. Rest in peace, brother. Your memory lives on with those that you touched near and far.

I did not know Officer Main personally but would interact or have brief conversation as I would see him occasionally at accidents or crime scenes as I was a freelance police photographer back then. I can remember going to his funeral. Everyone was numb and in shock over this young hero's life being cut short. It was truly a fitting tribute. May God bless him and may he rest in peace and watch over and protect our police officers .

By recognizing the heroes of our past, we honor and appreciate the warriors of our present. Your heroism and service is remembered with gratitude today. We thank you for your courage and sacrifice. You gave your all to keep order. Your jurisdiction is safer because of your willingness to put yourself in harm's way, standing between the citizens you swore to protect, and the evil that exists. Thank you for helping to make America a safer place. You live on in our memories as you continue to inspire. Time will never diminish our respect. You have not been forgotten, my brother. You will always be remembered. God bless you Jimmy, and rest in peace.
