Thinking of you and all of your loved ones on this anniversary of you being called away. Continue to keep watch over all of your loved ones and those still out on patrol. You are a true hero and heroes never die. You have not been forgotten.

Steven, you and your brothers are loved dearly.
I think this needs to be said:
I persoonally have been arrested before. I was arrested and put in jail. I have never (not then, nor now) ever lost my respect for the law enforcement community. I think people need to realize that when you are arrested, just comply. I see people on TV (COPS) all the time just fight and fight. What are they really doing, but making it harder on themselves and possibly thier loved ones.
The person that killed you should be shot. He was one of those "loose canons" that you guys deal with all the time. I personally will NEVER have anything but respect and admiration for the men and women in blue.
Be safe Steve, lord keep him safe. I will NEVER FORGET you and the sacrefice you made.

Its been almost 8 years since you left us and I think of you everyday. I know you were laughing when the Priest accidently put on the wrong version of, "Knocking on Heavens Door". Instead of the Bob Dylan version they put on the Guns N Roses version. I know you really would have wanted the GnR version anyway. All of us will never forget you or what a good man you always were.

It's snowing, has been for a week... tonight we're due for about another 6" and winds of 40 MPH+... Christmas will be here in a few days, remembering you brings warmth and peace to an otherwise cold world tonight. Merry Christmas 2008 Steve!

Steve,
Another spring has turned to summer, and soon the crisp colors of autumn will signal the twisting helix of another year. A son emerges in the image and likeness of his father, strong and proud, vibrant with the life you gave him. Long are the winters, and short are the summers in the city you served, but the brilliant joy with which we remember you pierces every day.

Steve, today as every day, you are remembered and loved. Tomorrow has turned to yesterday, and yet you still live on each day in our hearts and minds and the places where our love can never been taken by the evil in this world.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

It's been almost 7 years and I have not forgotten you, I never will. You changed my life, gave me a strength I couldn't find within myself. You saved me from a life I no longer wanted to know. You were the only one I trusted, you were my protector. You showed me that I deserved better than what I was receiving. The day you died ripped a hole in my heart that has never healed. You understood me and didn't judge me. You guided me and empowered me. For that I am forever greatful. You saved my life, I am so sorry I couldn't do the same. My thoughts and prayers are always with you and your family. You will forever be my Guardian Angel.

Stevie, I still think of you often. Those of us at DMPD will NEVER forget you, you are with us as we go out on the street each day. I fondly remember the hours you and I spent in the patrol car that day, waiting for the Waterland parade to start, and you were talking to me about the girls you were dating, I felt like such a "big sister"! We miss you very much. Jan~

Thanks Steve. I think of you often, and wouldn't forget you today. I am so thankful for the chance to have met you and the way that you touched my life. I'm so sorry for the way that your life ended. I guess there's solace in knowing you were doing the job that you loved, I just can't get over how tragic the whole thing is. The loss for your family and the community. My personal disappointment with the sentence handed down in this case. Tragic.
Thank you.

My thoughts are with your loved ones on this 6th anniversary of your EOW. I know the tears still flow from their broken hearts and will continue to do so as their love for you will never die. I personally think the justice system failed your loved ones as the sentence the individual received that caused all this pain and suffering for your loved ones can never be taken away, they will have to live with it forever while this individual lives on. But, you are the true hero and heroes never die. You will never be forgotten. Continue to watch over your loved ones and those still out on patrol.
