I am very proud to call you my great uncle,and the husband of my grandfather Pedro Cortez's sister, Catarina Cortez Basler.Although I never had the privilege to have met you in person,I grew up hearing positive things about you.Thank you for your dedicated service to law enforcement and the citizens of Brownsville,Texas and for being a loving husband and father to my great aunt Catarina Cortez Basler, Alfred Basler jr., Emma,and Walter Basler.Que Diosito te tenga en su Santa Gloria.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 67th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
