Wow! I've never felt so moved... almost 7 years later! I want all of you to know... quick justice is in the works for one of Aubrey's killers. I will keep everyone informed. Looks like a quick execution is in the works!!!! I'll give you a date as I am informed!

Aubrey,

All I have heard is all good things about you. I currently work with some Police Officer's that knew, and worked with you when you were at Police Officer for St. Paul Hospital, and I all I hear is what a great Police Officer you were, and what great friend you were as well. I wanted to let you know that it is officer's like yourself that make me want to be a Police Officer. Currently I am a Dispatcher for my department, and will be attending the Police Academy in the near future, and I can only hope that I make a impact as big as you did in the people you knew lives'.

Rest in Peace my brother.

I just finished reading the reflections from all of you. It made me feel so good to see the love you have for him.

I spend alot of time with Aubrey's son/my grandson who is now 15. He looks and acts just like Aubrey with the same gentle spirit. He is going to be a big man like his dad...he is already wearing a size 14 shoe.

Thanks to everyone again for the role you play in Aubrey's legacy which I hope lives for years to come.

Not a Christmas Eve goes by where I don't think about you. I always think about your son and how he must have felt waking Christmas morning to hear about your death. I think about your wife and how she must have suffered. I remember waiting on our north loop in the days after your death and looking for the Texas 7 and wondering how I would deal with them if I saw them.

As I type this, I am watching my wife and three sons getting ready for the night and tomorrow morning. I will go to shift meeting tonight and tell my shiftmates to remember Aubrey Hawkins. I will remind them that they need to be extra careful tonight so Santa comes home in the morning. Help us and watch over us again this year, Aubrey.

I will pray for your family tonight. Rest in peace, brother. I, along with alot of your friends and comrads, will be on watch tonight. Merry Christmas.

On behalf of the wives of officers everywhere, THANK YOU.
It is men like you that make it an honor to be married to an officer. May you find the peace in heaven that is so lacking on earth.

I went by Officer Hawkins memorial today. The memorial is a simple stone place on the grass boulevard behind the Oshman's store in Irving next to where he was murdered. Some people have left flowers and stuffed teddy bears on and around the memorial --I felt touched by the memorial and really felt that he certainly deserves all the thanks we citizens can give. I hope that the memorial behind Oshman's is a comfort to his family and that they know that many Irving citizens remember and respect Officer Hawkins.

While watching TV tonight I saw Arrest and Trial. Tonight's episode was about the TDCJ prison escape which turned very deadly. I had a moment of prayer for Officer Hawkins family and want to let them know we still remember Aubrey and his ultimate sacrifice. The general public cannot begin to fathom what a department and family goes thru when an officer is killed.
Blessed be the peacemakers.
