Reflections for Sergeant Christopher Michael Wouters
Chris,
I did not know you, although I just happen to be across the street at the YMCA at the time you were killed. I remember my mom and I wondering why the sirens and police cars were going to the police station. We found out later that night. Your family did not have an impact on me until August 11, 2002. That was the day that my brother Scott was shot and killed. I remember your father and sister, Carole, showing up in my parents kitchen that dreadful Sunday afternoon. I liked your sister immediately and we have become pretty good friends. I have met two of your other sisters since then, Beth and Margie. This Saturday is the three year date of your death, my family and I will be thinking of you and your family this weekend. They know that if they need us we are here for them. I can only hope that you and Scotty are keeping each other company. I know that your death has been hard on your family and we never know why things happen, but your family made our tragedy a little easier.
Keep protecting them from above,
Andrea Arrington

Chris,
It has been almost three years since you were taken from us, and there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. As time has gone by, the horrifying thoughts of how your life ended here on earth on October 11, 2000 have lessened, and instead I focus on all of the wonderful memories you blessed our family with. You were such a wonderful person, someone that I will always look up to and admire. You would be so proud of how our family has grown even stronger and closer. It has been a terrifying journey since you left us though. There is a quote that reads "If tears could build a staircase, and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven, and bring you home again". This is so true. I know that we will all meet again some day, but there isn't anything we wouldn't do to have you back with us. You are an awesome big brother, thank you for all of the fun times, laughs, advice, your listening ear, and the way you made everyone feel so special. I love you forever.

I never had the honor of meeting Chris, but though stories and rememberances shared around our department and in the community, it's clear that he was an excellent cop and a great man. Our hearts and prayers go out to Detective Wouters' family, and to our brothers and sisters at the Warren PD.

The death of Detective Wouters was tragic in every respect. It is a real shame that he was taken from his family at such a young age and in such an unexpected manner. May God be a father to his children and a husband to his wife. May the Spirit of Comfort cover all of his family, friends, and fellow officers.

Chris,
Such a sparkling personality, such a truly good person. If there were a spot in the encyclopedia for Warren P.D.'s finest, your photo would be there.
To the Wouters family and Chris's friends, words can't express my sorrow. Knowing Chris for only a few years, I was impressed by his level of dedication and his love of Police work.
His short stay here was God's way brightening all of our lives, He's truly home now. May God Bless and keep you all.

It is because of Chris that I am a Police Officer today. I had the pleasure of knowing Chris on personal level, and not a day goes by where I don't think of him as I venture out on patrol. Chris was a spectacular person, a wonderful father, husband, brother, coach, cop , and friend. He is forever in my thoughts and prayers. Chris was never selfish and helped me to attain my goal of becoming a Police Officer. May God Bless Chris and his Family.
