Thinking of your family, saying a prayer.

December 24, 2008
To Sgt. Christopher Wouters and his loved ones:
On this the eighth anniversary of your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today. Rest in Peace, Sgt. Wouters. I am praying for solace for your family today and each day of their journey as survivors. I know you must be proud that they have contributed so much to their local COPS chapter.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Sgt. Wouter gave to his community and the citizens of Michigan, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on October 11, 2000.

8 years ago today. I've never left a relection before, but just seeing your wonderful grin and reading all the comments, I know your absence leaves a void that no one will ever fill. Sgt. Wouters served proudly and was deeply loved and respected by those who knew him. It is a tragedy to lose him. We never know when our lives on this earth will end, but we can make a reservation in Heaven now and assure us a place when God calls us to Himself. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6) and He PAID the price for our sins on the Cross so we don't have to pay the penalty for our sins. Yipee! If we accept His payment by faith we can have salvation and spend eternity with Him in Heaven. It is not something we must earn, it is a gift. The most precious one we can ever receive. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith_and this not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God_not by good deeds, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2: 8,9. For without faith, it is impossible to please God. And our faith must be in God's only Son, Jesus Christ.
You were a credit to the uniform, Sgt. Wouters. My heart goes out to your
loved ones left behind and may the Lord comfort them as only He can.
It's so sad to think you were so close to retirment, but God's retirement plan
is out of this world!

Thinking of you and your family as the 11th approaches. I know that they have something very special planned for that day, something that is a tremendous tribute to you and the life you lived. Please continue to watch over all of them. You have a wonderful family...every one of them!

POLICE OFFICER
PHILA PA
January 21, 2008
"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Your watch ended 7 years ago, but I know the Good
Shepherd has good things in store for those who love
Him. How ironic that the one who killed you ended up
killing himself, too. Wow! You both met the Lord at the
same time, one with glory and one with shame. Wish
I could have been there to see that! What a difference
we make of our lives by choosing wisely. Wise men
still seek Him and those who don't live eternally with
regret. We love and miss the man you chose to become. May the Lord comfort those who mourn.

I played a lot of ball with Chris. He was a good person who cared about other people. If you ever needed anything, he would help you get it. It was such a shame to see a fine man cut down in the prime of his life. I always think of him and have been at the cemetery quite a few times. It's still hard to believe he's gone. God bless you Chris.

Six years ago on this date, I lost my friend and partner in the police academy. It was a tragic and rough time for me. We had known each other and were friends since birth. He wanted nothing more than to be a police officer. Later the same day, I heard about your tragic death. Six years later, it comforts me to know that not only did you sacrifce your life for your community and your fellow officers, you didn't leave my partner alone on that day. It shows that we never ride without backup, we are never without support, and never alone. The more ironic part was my partner in the academy went to the school/church were you were an active member and part of. I truly believe the lord did not want either of you to be without a partner on that day in heaven. Thank you sir for your service and while we continue to fight the good fight down here...we always think of you...thank you for keeping all of your brothers in blue safe.

Chris,
Watch over your family, they could use their blue angel. You live in each of them, especially when they tell a story about you, you can see it in their eyes. Your memory lives on in your family, your department and the community, we will not forget and we will not let others forget the ultimate sacrifice you made.
To the Wouters,
Your family has helped so many who have gone through the same tragedy you did six years ago. Thank you for all that you have done for each of us and I think I speak for the majority when I say that we are all here for you if you need us. All any of you have to do is pick up the phone and there are so many people that would be eager to help you. You are a special family and I am honored to have you as friends.
With all my heart,
Andrea
