Reflections for Police Officer Richard George Magan

I was saddened to hear of your death that morning when at roll call as I began my tour of duty. though I didn't know you or have the pleasure to work with you I felt really sad inside. I payed my respects to you and marched side by side with thousands of other officer's. I saluted you that day for being a hero someone who gave his life to protect others. I wish your family all the blessings in the world. God has called you to walk a beat on heaven's streets.Rest in peace.

Rick you were a great DAD! I think of you often. Especially when I see your Mom and your son Tim at school. You were a great person. I remember when we first met you were 20 and I was 16. My parents never approved of it. But once they got to know you the age difference did not matter because they new you were a respectful person.  I will miss you. I get flashbacks often of watching for you to pass by my parents house on your way home from (BCC) Bristol Community College, where you studied Crimal Justice before becoming a cop for the FRPD. Rick I have alot of memory's which I will remember for eva. Until we meet again,

Rick,

When somebody dies, a cloud turns into

an angel, and flies up to tell God

to put another flower on a pillow.

A bird gives the message back to

the world, and sings a silent prayer

that makes the rain cry. People dis-

appear, but they never really go away.

The spirits up there put the sun to

bed, wake up grass, and spin the

earth in dizzy circles. Sometimes you

can see them dancing in a cloud during

   the day-time, when they're supposed

to be sleeping. They paint the rain-

bows and also the sunsets and make

waves splash and tug at the tide.

They toss shooting stars and listen to

wishes. And when they sing wind-

songs, they whisper to us, don't

miss me too much. The view is nice

   and I'm doing just fine.

Rick I enjoyed working with you and you WILL be missed dearly, You are a true hero.

Rick,

It was a pleasure to see your smile every morning. You will truely be missed by everyone in the department and in the City.  May God Bless you and your family.

I will miss stopping in his office...where I immediately would direct my attention to his desk looking for that warm smile.  If he was in there would always be that stern handshake and a moment or two of catching up ... about how each other's lives were going.  Looking back I wish I would have popped in more often ... but I cherish the times that I did.  And I will never forget that he died rushing to the aid of a brother officer... a true hero.  I will miss you Rick, but I am a much better person for having been honored with your friendship.  May you rest in peace...and I know that you truly are shining down on us from heaven.
