Reflections for Police Officer Shynelle Marie Mason
I did not know Officer Mason, but I extend my deepest condolences to her family, friends, and co workers at the Detroit P.D. It is truly a sad day when a police officer cannot put gas into her personal vehicle without being at risk. It is this type of incident that illustrates how much risk a person must be prepared to take when becoming a police officer in the 21st century.

I did not know Shynelle, but I know the love she had for the job. I am truly sorry to hear of this tragedy. No peace officer expects to die on duty. We know and except that it may happen. I extend my deepest regrets to the family and friends of Officer Shynelle Mason.
God Bless. Psalm 20.

My most sincere condolences go out to the family, friends and coworkers of Officer Mason. It is, indeed, a sad day in America when a law enforcement officer cannot conduct daily tasks off-duty without facing death. We have an expectancy for danger on the job but dedication to duty, as was shown in this case, puts officers lives on the line at any given moment. I did not know Officer Mason personally, but I know the reason she put on that uniform every day. We fellow brothers and sisters who walk the thin blue line must take up the slack caused by the loss of Officer Mason. The International Association of Women Police salutes you, Shynelle. Godspeed.

The job is tough, stressful and dangerous enough while your On Duty. For a Police Officer to be gunned down while off Duty at a gas station is a SHAME. NO POLICE OFFICER should have to die because they are doing their job, But it happens and because your a Police Officer your a target on or off Duty and this Officer was killed off Duty because of some guy she arrested a year ago recgornized her. She presented no threat to this guy and yet she was killed just because she was a Cop. I hope she is in a better place and she is at peace. My condolences to her Family and her fellow Officers of the Detroit Police Department.

I would just like to say Shynelle was a friend of mine. She was one of the youngest officers in our academy class but she could and did hold her own. We all lost someone special that day she left this earth but she is in a place we all strive to be with our lord and savior. She is not forgotten she is with us everyday. I miss her and love her.
