Reflections for Police Officer Shynelle Marie Mason
Officer Mason's story touches my heart often. At the time of her passing I was an MDOC officer and lived not too far from the scene of this horrific crime. To this day when I pass by that gas station I think of what happened. I didn't know officer Mason but I still feel the bond and I pray for her family.

To the family and friends of Shynelle Mason, It is my honor to have Shynelle as my silent partner her story will always be very touching and will always be a reminder to me that she didn't deserve what happened that sad day. Shynelle seemed to be a very kind-hearted person and made a lot of people happy and had many friends and family who cared dearly for her. After 20+ years Shynelle's story will live on and she will have an impact on everyone for many more years to come, she didn't deserve what was done to her but even then she is in a better place now and will live on in our hearts, I send my ever loving regards to Shynelle's family and friends in this time.

To the loving and caring family and friends of the beloved Shynelle Marie Mason. It is my absolute honor to have her as my silent partner, her story will always be on my mind for eternity and she will always be remembered by myself and my family. It takes an astonishing person to truly serve their community for the greater good, I can only imagine how wonderful she truly was. Shynelle Mason truly touched many hearts in the community and many more to come, even after 20+ years Shynelle Masons story will live on forever in many different aspects. From her personal life to her professional life she has made ever lasting friendships, relationships and impressions. That alone is one of the most honorable things a person can do in life, being able to create such a positive impact on friends, family and the community is incredibly admirable. Shynelle Mason made the ultimate sacrifice, she will never be forgotten and her sacrifice will always be honored until the end of time.

Today is a very hard one Mother’s Day smh. Days like this I would be able to call you and come over and vent and cry and you would’ve made me feel better. I’ve been through so much and the only person that truly understood me wasn’t there physically. I miss you so much cousin. You were the best big cousin a girl could ask for. I’m turning 40 this year be there in spirit. Keep watching over us Pig. Forever my best friend and diary. I loved you then and love you still.

So many words and reflections with not enough time or space to fit all the words that could be said. The past 24 hours for me have been probably my most draining emotionally and then I was pulled towards YOU. Almost 20 years later and it never gets any easier. I remember the day you were taken from us, how I felt in that moment, watching the news...I remember it all. I remember YOU my big cousin who I admire so so much. I look up to you and the strength and love that you showed us all. I remember you always making me and twin laugh as soon as we walked up to the house to visit because you'd have your face pressed against the glass door. You will always be my 'piggy' because whenever I get sad I picture you making that face and I still laugh. You're my HERO and your service as a Citizen, Family member and Detroit Police Officer will Always live on. Rest Peacefully Guardian Angel

Oh Shynell, I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to see you grow into the woman you were. I remember you as a little girl, you were like a niece to me. You and your Big sis Shantel was very special to me. I kept you guys with cute braids in your hair. I remember you being a little cute fiesty young girl. I wish I could have been there for your family you loved so much. I don't know how to get in touch with them. It took a lot out of me when I heard you were taken. Your family are in my continual prayers. You will always be my niece and I will always Love You!❤ THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE SWEETIE!❤

I will never forget that night, Blake and Asbury tried to save your life. Me and Matt along with other officers from different units found jason hiding in the attic of his family members home. That was one of the most draining days working in my carrier so far and after the smoke settled I was an emotional mess. I will never forget

Shynelle,
It's me Mac (as you called me) & I want you to know, not a day goes by that I don't think about my best friend/sister. I miss you so much & tell my daughter all about you & the fun times we shared. It was really sad to hear about your mom but I know you were happy to greet her with open arms, a hug that was long over due. Shynelle, Please continue to watch over myself & my family. I love you & miss you so much...until we meet again!!
